why pay when you can get all you want for free at an exchange? my only complaint w/our local exchanges is that the smallest gauge they have is 29 and the points themselves are longer which makes them tricky to use -- when i was getting them through a pharmacy (@50$ a box) (needed a perscription which is just so stupid) i was getting 31 guage short needles which were/are a lot easier to use. but you really can't beat the free exchanges, especially since the fact that they're free encourage you/me to use them only once. though i must admit, i covet the few bags of short point, 31 gauge syinges that i have left from when i was paying for them.......

In some places, the exchanges are only open once a week and they adhere to state laws limiting the number of syringes that can be sold OTC. And I've never heard of nor witnessed micron filter access (at exchange or pharmacy) in the US other than what johnny^^ mentioned. At my exchange, the filters offered are prerolled tiny balls of cotton. Not even cigarette filters.

Lucky to have OTC access and any exchange at all, though- right?

no, you need a prescription and money at pharmacies here. that's why i stopped. are you saying at the exchanges where you are they charge? or limit the number? just curious. yea, you can find an exchange almost every day here and very generous. it's good and encourages safety. but they're not OTC -- they're in back alleys and detox clinics. lucky though. you're right.

Theres only one place I know that sells micron filters around my country and you have to be a registered member of the shooting gallery and you have to be 18+ which im not, plus id be getting 2 45 minute bus rides and 2 1 1/2 hour train rides to get them, theres no way im going 4 1/2 hours for that. Im ordering some off the net very soon because im starting to feel really bad about shooting ritalin and oxy and what its doing to me, its really scary what could happen in later years.

At present ive used normal cotton wool and q-tips but tonight I have nothing but dirty cottons so im gonna use a rollie filter so hopefully I will be ok if I do it just this once.

maybe list all the different kinds, advantages, disadvantages, what areas/exchanges give out what....you know that kinda thing

Getting the same as johnnyB420 at the exchanges here in Canada. Might get some wheels soon I hope.

Before that they were handing out 'dental swabs' which I think were sterile (at least in the beginning depending on how ther're handled) which I used for years and have never had an injection related problem (other than OD I guess that qualifies).

Not in my area (midwest)

I use cig filters. I think the fiberglass thing is bunk... maybe for some select brands, but I thought it was pretty much only Newports or other strong-menthol brands. And even from hearing that I'm a little skeptical, could be wrong though

Ok heres where I'm at in in the south US and micron filters are I guess no, and the old lady at the pharm keeps giving me the eye when I ask for them, So besides the safe way for a junky, i guess im going to go the regular junky way, whats safer, cotton from a ear thing or a cig filter,.. or is there something else that no one has mentiond.. thanks.

OK, has anyone in the US picked up micron's from a needle exchange or from a pharmacy?

I get .22 microns from this pharmacy that is on my way to where i pick up my dope. They have a few different sizes. This is in Dallas, Tx.

This same pharmacy also will sell needles without prescription. The manager (main pharmacist im guessing) was serving me one day and said he knew why i needed them but he would rather sell them without prescription than have the spread of AIDS or other diseases.


Smart man. I thanked him and went on my way.

I live in Northwestern PA and it's not exactly a junkies paradise here. H is never around consistently and there are no needle exchanges within three hours of here. Thankfully, I can drive 30 minutes to New York to get fresh rigs from a pharmacy. Do you think they'd carry the micron filters there as well?

I use about 1/8 of a cig filter, never had any problems.
