inspired by city of god thread i decide to make this one

An X-Ray of Rio de Janeiro Police Forces and Part of the Brazilian Society

There are no wholly good people in the movie, and it's frighteningly easy to compare some of what goes on to things happening in the USA (and other places) today. That said, the system of government and policing portrayed comes across as so amazingly inept and awful that it's almost like something straight out of a nightmarish sci-fi dystopia.

real big film in brazil and for good reason... i think many will enjoy it. also soundtrack is top notch. im bout to kill sometime n' watch it again(returned). easily a 5 star in my boook.

looks good.

just watched Manda Bala yesterday. was more to do with crime in sao paulo. they say the streets are so dangerous now, that the upper class use helicopters for metro transpo.

i've never been to brazil but i knew a girl from rio (supposedly) and she was insane. a cokehead with a huge ass and tiny waist. was a great dancer.

have you seen ghosts of city soleil? if so, how is it?

haven't seen that, looks like city of god but in haiti.. i've heard of it but never got around to watching it.. one of these days.

I watched tropa de elite, quite a good film although not at the level of cidade de deus.

I have a few brazilian friends and they are all really fun and good people. Shame that the situation is so fucked up in some places.

Rent city of men, it's the sequel to City of God and IMO almost as good!
