i just saw this movie... the themes throughout: drops on the floor; trumpet; double-life all played together with the drugs and it felt like I was watching the events of some bizarre, surreal dream world unfold like a psychedelic trip where terror and humour sit in a delicate balance and the ethereal qualities thrown together with the creepy paranoia and unique narrative made every following minute a completely new, unpredictable sequence of events.

somewhat of a spoiler (if you havent seen this movie you MUST):
NSFW:
I really enjoyed that this movie had a happy ending which is a rare thing among flicks of such calibre and the cinematography was unbelievable. I also really loved how it was simple to understand, impossible to recreate (Val Kilmer = unparalleled), had me on the edge of my seat, and will leave me thinking about it for a long time...

This is definitely a well-layered movie. You start off seeing just something simple and every twenty minutes or so,the movie pulls back to reveal a bigger picture. The end result was very satisifying. Me ex girlfriend(the whore)hated Val Kilmer in everything until she saw this movie and loved it. That doesn't redeem her from the fact that she is a horrible she-bitch for who I pray an early death. If you haven't seen this movie yet,go grab it now. Faaaar more superior to the often-compared(I have no idea why)Spun.

The only thing Spun and this movie have in common is meth.

So that isn't a valid point of comparison!?

While we're discussing the two films, we should also compare and contrast "Leaving Las Vegas" and "Strange Brew"... since they are both about guys who drink too much.
