Film: The Ring 2

I was wanting this movie to kick ass, I was just hoping it would be awesome like the first one, but it just wasn't. :\ I thought the 1st one was good, so it's hard to beat it, IMHO.

I am going to type some spoliers in white text, if you want to read them, highlight the area below.

Start here-----
I didn't like how they only showed the "new" film only once in it's entirity. It ran across the screen so fast, I missed most of it, so when certain scenes came up during the course of the movie I probably missed those too.

The scene with the deers charging the car was stupid, and I thought it added absolutely nothing to the story. The only thing it was good for was it alerted the mother that something strange was happening, but it was very excessive.

The little boy might win the award for worst child actor, ever. I understand the role he's trying to play; as a disturbed ghost ridden child, but I can't imagine a more lifeless and emotionless actor to play his part.

Overall, I'm somewhat glad the movie finally all came together, and made the audience clear just WHY Samara was so desperately after the mother and her child. However, I don't understand why Samara just didn't take up host with the woman in the mental hospital?

And to think, all this time, all they had to do was close that fuckin well - she never would have gotten back out.

End here----

Also, Naomi Watts is one sexy woman in this film. ;)

Is it worth seeing you think? Or no? I mean I usually expect most "scary movies" to be pretty cheesy and lame, but I still enjoy seeing them unless they are ungodly bad.

It depends on how much you liked the first one. On a scale of 1-10, ten being great, I thought the first ring was a solid 8. If you just want to know how this is all tied together, and how the story ends, see it. But don't expect to leave the theatre scared.

I saw it and wasn't expecting much. But now I have to say they wrapped things up nicely. The ending was rather cheesy but hey, it's hard to impress these days.

Ive not seen the new hollywood version, but i didnt think the 2nd jap version was as good as the first jap version. I remmber being bored... and not scared at all.

I think they tried too hard, The first movie was actualy creepy, but now its like oooh look shes everywhere :|

I give it a 2

Yeh but since when has a sequel been better then the original>? I think Hollywood should stop stealing japans ideas! ill be waiting till it comes out on dvd to see it

only good for cheapskate tuesday.
not terrible
nothing new
lots of silly elements that have no place in serious movies.
2 stars.
one for the movie
and one for the young-uns in the audience. funny kids.

I'm giving it two stars only because there was a few good scenes sprinkled in here and there. Overall I thought this movie was pretty bad, and they totally screwed it up from the first one.
Since when can you save yourself from dying just by making someone else watch the tape? In the first movie they actually had to make a copy to be saved.
Also, and I could be wrong about this one becasue it's been a long time since I saw the first movie, wasn't the woman the kids aunt or something in the first movie? maybe I'm remembering wrong or just wasn't paying attention though.
Other than that, there were a few good scenes and some decent special effects but I found myself pretty bored throughtout most of the time, I'm glad a friend of mine works at the theatre and I didn't actualy have to pay to see it.

I went into this with pretty high expectations because i found the first one pretty freaky, but this one just missed the mark completely. While the first one was genuinely scary, this one was just plain cheesy. Having a different director probably had a lot to do with this.

Did anyone think that scene with all the deer was completely useless and had nothing to do with the plot?

I saw this movie last night and I liked it untill the ending. Firstly in the end scene how could Somatra run up that well so quickly the second time when she struggled so hard when she was trying to get up the first time? Why didn't the adoptive mother close the well before she committed suicide? How did Somatra get into the boys dream in the beginning when all throughout the movie they claimed that the dead couldn't get you when you were asleep?.

I found that the deer scene was quite well done although your right it didnt have much to do with the movie. In the first movie they used horses a lot for no particular reason except that they lived on a horse ranch. I guess this is sort of the same thing.

I loved both movies but felt like the ending was pathetic in both. The imagery and effects are really awesome and I think they do well setting the atmosphere properly. I think they should have ended it by throwing the real mother down the well with Somatra or forcng the real mother to watch the video. Would have been such a better ending.

The first one scared the shit outta me. I was easily able to suspend my disbelief with Samara coming out of the TV.

I enjoyed the sequel but nowhere near as riveting as the first. Surprise surprise. The well scene at the end was made just for me though...crazy bendy spider girl.

I don't understand if Rachel and her son (?name) had such a odd adult like relationship, why didn't she tell him exactly how she had "finished" Samara's reign? It's not like whatever she said would freak him out into insanity. Ah perhaps, it is the new beginning of a mother-son relationship where "what you don't know can't hurt you." Better off being honest, mommy.
