^can't say I agree with that best movie from Wilson and Anderson claim. My order goes as follows...

Bottle Rocket
Royal Tennenbaums
Rushmore
Life Aquatic

While I enjoyed the creative aspects of this film, as well as the excellent casting, it just didn't grab me the same way Anderson's previous films did. It is surely his most imaginative attempt yet at filmmaking, but the overall comedic delivery just didn't seem to reach the bar set from his previous works. This isn't to say I didn't like the film...I just wasn't overwhelmed with enjoyment from it.

I'll agree with amor though...the soundtrack is top class...typical for a Wes Anderson flick. :)

Oh yeah, interesting tidbit, "Let Me Tell You About My Boat" at the beginning of the film is actually a palindrome of "Scrapping and Yelling" from The Royal Tenenbaums. :)

please explain that:)

anyone else feel that the film really starts lagging towards the middle-end? i found myself really bored *shrugs*

lol @ bond company stooge

i thought it sucked
two really talented comedians IMO and i dont think this movie was very funny at all
Billy Murray was pretty funny, but idk

The song played while Bill explained his ship (near beginning of film) was titled by Mark Mothersbaugh as "Let Me Tell You about my Boat". Mothersbaugh explained in the special features that song was actually a palandrome (same song played backwards) of "Scrapping and Yelling" (song played during the scene where Royal takes a walk with Etheline) from the Royal Tenenbaums.

It's a love it or hate it film...just like every other Wes Anderson flick. After seeing it for the first time I felt I had to share it with my friend who has similar film taste...and he completely hated it. Either you like the subtle, deadpan humor or you don't.

"That's it. I'm calling my gang. Anthony! Ka-KA! Ka-KA!"

what an incredibly useless and ultimately pretentious bit of minutia

thx for the explanation tho:)

I'm not too sure how pretentious it is... to me a pretentious bits of minutia would be: Did you know Handel's creation of the Messiah was finished in less than a month, being that Handel felt he was compelled by God. He is quoted in saying "I did think I did see all heaven before me, and the great God Himself." Also, during it's opening performance the King stood during the Hallelujah Chorus and since then, it has been tradition to do so.

Learning something from a special features DVD is pretty far from pretentious.
