Based on the BBC mini-series of the same title, a team of investigative reporters work alongside a police detective to try to solve the murder of a congressman's mistress.

Used the search and had a browse around, suprised not see a thread on this already, seems like the sort of film most folk in F&T adore.

I watched this last night at the cinema and I was incredibly bored. It was such a dull film, they failed miserably at creating suspense. Definitely not edge of the seat material. The acting was fine, the story had potential but the film just did not deliver.

One of the worst cinema releases of 2009 for me.

Opnions?

I saw State of Play solo on a Monday Night. It was pretty much what I expected, a decent newspaper reporter-turned-detective mystery/suspense.

It held it's own. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. I was the only one in the theatre, which made the experience more enjoyable.

I gave it 3 stars.

I thought the 1980's film "Mean Season" with Kurt Russell and Mariel Hemingway was better. Plus Hemingway gets nude in it and Rachel McAdams doesn't :(. Oh well, I guess that's what The Notebook is good for.
