oh and watch session 9 it awsome!!!!!!!%) %)

I mentioned it in another topic before and totally agree with alasdairm, a truly very thrilling movie that I would recommend highly aswell, very good horror flick.

'Do It Gordan'

I perticularlly liked when that one guy took off his sunglasses to show the thing in his brain beside his eye... "Did he hurt you *whatever his name was*?"

Such an awesome scene.

I know somebody who spent time at Danvers State Asylum. He came out worse than he went in.

I used to work at a high tech company located on Route 1 right at the bottom of the hill where the asylum is located. I was always a little worried a Michael Myers might escape. It was creepy leaving work at night if I worked late.

I'm watching it now! YAY!

I thought this review from IMDB summed up my feelings on the movie pretty well.

Summary: Some movies are too good for people

I usually don't write reviews on imdb. But I wanted to in this case after reading so many user comments for "Session 9". I think it's a shame that film audiences today have become so lazy. Here is a film that displays artistry, subtlety, and intelligence, relying on the viewer to actually use their brain instead of be bombarded by useless imagery. This truly is a horrifying movie. And so many people have problems with it... people say it's the "worst piece of crap" they've ever seen, but then go and high-five each other while watching "The House on Haunted Hill" or "Jeepers Creepers 2". Movies like this are rare, but making a come-back. The horror is psychological, and the director's handle on atmosphere is intimidating. I found this film to be one of the most disturbing movies I'd seen in a long time. Another great independent horror film, "May", is also suffering from poor reviews by people who don't seem to really understand what they're watching, and react angrily to that. If you are a serious movie fan, who likes to use your brain and be challenged by a film, watch this movie. It's fantastic. If you'd rather just see what the latest computer effects wizards are dreaming up, there a number of other films where things pop out at you and teenagers get killed by something. Stick to those.

This was the worst movie me and my friends have ever seen. I remember sitting there and all we did was make fun of the entire movie. Super boring, horrible plot, the ending didn't make sense. We didn't even know what the movie was really about. I remember watching the DVD extras and there was an extra element with some crazy lady that was supposed to be added but was taken out - it would of made the movie alot better IMHO.

perhaps that's why you didn't enjoy it?

I liked it. It had an edge. The tape sessions were nice and creepy. "Do it Gordon". That Simon is a badass.

Trust me, I know what a good movie is... and this had none of the qualities.

back up what you say - and name what you think are good movies.

Session 9 had a ton of potential, but in the end it left me feeling let down, slightly cheated.

It seems like someone visited the asylum and was so taken with the look and feel of the building and decided to write a movie around it. If this were the case, they did a damn good job, but they ran out of steam before they ran out of film. There is the "big payoff" at the very end that does more to dissapoint than anything else.

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

People have been talking a lot about psychological horror in this thread, like fear is something you should have to think about rather than a gutteral, instinctual reaction. There wasn't much to think about in this movie. It was heading in one direction the entire time. From the get go, the person you first think is to blame... the one they lead you to think is responsible, is the one covered in blood at the end. Sure, they attempt to mislead you once or twice to think that David Caruso's character is the killer, but it seems like they wrote that in as more of an afterthought, like they didn't want to just HAND you the killer on a silver platter. The only "psychological" aspect is the implied split-personality disorder that Gordon apparently picks up when he enters the asylum. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a bad-ass premise, but they didn't work it hard enough to make the pay-off worthwhile.

**END SPOLIERS **

My final thoughts:

It was a decent movie. Great cinematography and a very good attempt at good, old fashioned, Hitchcock style terror. I just don't think it's worth all the praise that some people give it... nor do I think it was as bad as wallytuggs says... not that his opinion holds much merit anyways.

Adios,
Steve

Session 9

What did you think of this movie. I liked it, was the first movie thats scared me for a long time, very suspenseful. Plus it has the guy who played Mother Superior from Trainspotting he's cool.

Ps. Can someone please explain the ending to me I don't think I understood it. Were all the characters in his head or am I way off?

I would like to personally thank Randycaver for patiently and painstakingly sending me the entire divx of this movie ....thats what ya call perseverance ;) and luuurve
PS I loved it....i have since watched this several times in the past month! I discover something new with each viewing too. As a true horror afficionado...i find this quite disturbing and it has NOTHING at all to do with any psychic phenomena whatsoever. It is all psychological. And thats fucking scary.

^^ anytime dear ;)

i agree, each time i have watched it i get more out of it.

basix : i think it's open to interpretation. i've read way too many interpretations of this movie, and some freak me out even more, but I think that those characters are real..

i definitely think he is the killer though - there is one theory that suggests that a mysterious vagrant living in the asylum is the murderer, but that would be pretty lame to not even touch on that in the entire movie. I don't know if anybody saw this person, but it was a woman i believe who scared them in one of the tunnels.

REcently i've had a couple ex-good friends who just went nuts without warning. Im thinking maybe SIMON is working his way up eh . Seriously.

Session 9............??

personally, i LOVE this flick...the best semi-horror/psychological flicks out in years!!a film that really gets under yer skin....

so, did ya like it or dislike it????REEzuns PLEEze!
