Film: Saw III - release date oct 27/halloween (merged)

I haven't seen Saw II yet, but for a movie with a $4 million production cost that is already earning $50 million+, you can get bet there is going to be a sequel.

Saw III Confirmed
Source: House of Jigsaw November 7, 2005

Saw and Saw II producer Gregg Hoffman has confirmed at House of Jigsaw that there will be a Saw III. The sequel has already earned over $60 million in two weeks and cost only $4 million to make. Hoffman said:

1) RELAX!!!! We just finished SAW II. Yes, there's going to be a SAW III, and yes, we will do our best not to f**k it up. We're going to try for next year, but if it's not right when we'd have to start shooting, we'll wait.

2) There are NO CONFIRMED cast members for SAW III yet.

3) There is no director confirmed yet.

4) The title is not S3W. That's ridiculous. It reminds me of when everyone thought the title of SAW II was SAW II: HACKSAW.

Meanwhile, Lions Gate Films, distributor of the films, has already registered Saw3.com, which currently takes you to the studio's official site.

What is wrong with hollywood? 1500% return on investment in 2 weeks? They're a business. If this means they have more money floating around and are able to take risks on other projects that otherwise wouldn't have happened, I say bring on Saw 3! :)

already, wow
hrm.
im glad it isnt going to be S3W, dumbfucks.
well, heres to another and another and another!

Saw III Starts Filming in Toronto

Source: Lionsgate May 5, 2006

Lionsgate, the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, and Twisted Pictures announced today that Saw III, the next chapter in the psychologically intense and disturbing horror franchise, will begin principal photography on May 8th in Toronto. The film, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II), with story by franchise originators Leigh Whannell and James Wan (Saw, Saw II) and screenplay by Whannell, is scheduled for a Halloween 2006 release. The Twisted Pictures team of Mark Burg and Oren Koules return for a third round as producers with Whannell and Wan set to executive produce. Overseeing the production for Lionsgate are Peter Block, the company's President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions, and Jason Constantine, the company's Senior Vice President of Acquisitions and Co-Productions. Nick Meyer, President of Lionsgate International, and Stephanie Denton, President of Lionsgate International Sales, will present the film for the first time to international buyers at the upcoming Cannes film market. The announcement was jointly made by Block and Twisted Pictures' Burg and Koules.

"We're tickled red about bringing a new cycle of Jigsaw's bloody inventions to horror fans all over the world," said Block. "Darren, Leigh and James are cooking up a twisted gem that promises to be the most nightmarish 'Saw' yet."

"Twisted and Lionsgate put a lot of faith in me as a first-time director to direct 'Saw II,' and I'm thrilled to again be part of the team for 'Saw III,'" said director Bousman. "With this story, Leigh and James have given me a lot of food for visual, and visceral, thought. I'm very excited about bringing these images to life and scaring the hell out of everybody."

"Building the 'Saw' franchise with Lionsgate has been a truly creative process," remarked Burg and Koules. "Horror is a genre that we're all passionate about, and it's great to be part of a series that pushes it in new and ever creepier directions."

Reprising their original franchise roles for Saw III are Tobin Bell, recently nominated for the 2006 MTV Movie Award for Best Villain, as "Jigsaw," and Shawnee Smith as "Amanda." Portraying "Lynn" is rising star Bahar Soomekh, who gave a breakthrough performance in Lionsgate's Academy Award®-winning Crash and is now starring opposite Tom Cruise in Mission: Impossible III. Rounding out the cast are Angus MacFadyen (Braveheart) as "Jeff," and Dina Meyer, reprising her role as "Kerry."

Production on Saw III starts May 8th in Toronto and is expected to wrap by the end of June. The producers are Mark Burg, Oren Koules and the late Gregg Hoffman, to whom the film will be dedicated. The film is executive produced by James Wan, Leigh Whannell, Peter Block, Jason Constantine, and Dan Heffner.

The "Saw" franchise is emerging as one of the most inventive and popular franchises in the horror genre, racking up worldwide box office grosses of over $250 million and DVD sales approaching 10 million units. Saw II set a Lionsgate record with a three-day opening weekend of $31.7 million last Halloween, becoming the widest release in Lionsgate history and achieving one of the best opening weekends ever for a horror sequel. With a domestic box office of over $87 million and more than $152 million in worldwide theatrical box office, Saw II easily eclipsed the $55 million domestic box office total of the original Saw.

is this going to be a budget film too? the first one was great but the second one looked felt alot cheaper atmosphere wise

Not with my money it aint.
I refused to see the second and will do the same with the third.

Let the little shits get what they think they want.

the first one was a pretty classic horror movie, so I thought, of course I will see the second. it was very amateurish in style and had no substance whatsoever. obviously Saw 3 will have that one chick who was the disciple of the jigsaw killer carrying on his work... I can tell it pretty much will not be entertaining.

i really liked the first one. my type of horror movie. i liked the second one as well, but not nearly as much. it definitely was better than most horror films in recent years.

who knows how the third one will be? we'll know soon enough, i guess.

Opens Friday.

Haha..awesome. Stupid but awesome. I dont think these movies are scary, even the first one was pretty dumb. But I love the ridiulous sadistic situations they think up and the gore. FUn stuff for halloween.

I just saw the midnight showing of this... I gave it 4 stars out of 5

First off, this is by far the most intense of the series yet. I won't get into detail because I don't want to ruin it but be prepared to see some very, very disturbing imagery. The setting, ambience and mood of the film is right on par with what you would expect.

I thought the film ran a bit repetitive, story wise, but it did keep you on guessing and it kept my pulse up the entire time. This movie runs at 2 hours and it is packed at that. I have a strange feeling this might be the last of the Saw movies and this might of been why they put so much in it. I want to say so much but don't want to ruin anything either :\

I thought the movie was done very well, while the ending was ok. It was definately MUCH better than the second movie, which I thought was just ok.

It is well worth it if you enjoyed the other two. In my opinion, much better than the second movie. It completes the trilogy (as I understand it).. You need to go into the movie viewing it as the completion of a series.

Of course, as you should know, very graphic. Ever wondered what the inside of a policewoman looks like? You might get to find out8o In all reality, it is not so much about the people that are being tortured/ended but more so about the game that is being played. I enjoy the saw movies in the same way I enjoyed the movie Seven, if that makes any sense.

I like this new one better than the second one, for sure. Very graphic, very twisted, lots of demented games. I was especially glad to see Amanda get hers. ;) So will there be a part IV, the ending left it open with that guy's daughter in a room...
