film: Pusher

Anyone seen Pusher, I think its from Germany or Russia, its pritty full on but a bit old. Dude has to make money by dealing drugs. If anyone has seen this what did they think?

It's a Danish film, from 1996. It's actually really good. I compare it to gangster, crime movies where shit goes from bad to worse, kind of like Pulp Fiction or Lock Stock. I won't discuss the plot in much detail, but I will say that there is some sweet justice in the relationships between him and his "friends" even the ones that dick him over, as he ultimately is a very unlikebale character. I rarely felt sympathy for him as he consistently uses people, as addicts have a tendency to, and the way he refuses help and a chance to get out, really make me feel like he got what was coming.

Really entertaining film, lots of crime / gangster action desperately seeking money to pay off dealers, not the most original concept but an excellent film nonetheless.

I have seen this film a few times when it randomly appears on the SBS cult movie, and I definitely recommend keeping an eye out for it.

the first one is great, the other two are just kind of boring.

whichever one follows the older guy that owns the restaurant - do not watch. absolutely boring, terrible.

^ that's the third one..

Actually i like the second one a lot. It follows tonny later after he gets out of jail (dunno what he was in for). It's pretty darn graphic. It has a similar type of filming style, really like it.

the third one is the only one that I think is really boring. The second one was alright, I guess I just hate baby mama drama in movies. (All of this aside, even the third one is better than most of the movies I've seen recently - I just judge good movies by a harder set of measures).

btw Mads Mikkelsen was recently voted sexiest man in Denmark. He was a serious badass in Casino Royale, one of the best bad guys ever in the Bond series. He has some serious range, at least, to be able to play the guy in Pusher.
