honestly i didnt think it was very good at all.
nothing happened.
and the small stuff that did happen wasnt resolved.
it went for waaaay to long, and some of the bits were just a tad unrealistic, even for a disney movie.

BUT

Johnny depp was totally hot.

Some good parts, some bad parts. The first one would have been total crap if it hadn't been for Depp's performance and while I am morally opposed to the milking of this character for an additional 2 movies, Johnny Depp can pull it off. Sparrow is a dynamic character, although at times it gets to be a bit much.

All in all it was somewhat entertaining, with bad to passable acting (excluding Depp), engaging special effects, atrocious writing (the one-liners, again excluding Depp, are for the most part terrible), and the cliffhanger ending was rather annoying but I knew it was a two-parter going in. I am slightly curious about the 3rd movie, but will not make any special effort to see it. Basically, if you have some time to kill it's worth a look but don't expect anything special.

i was going to see this the other night because i had heard it had come out, but apparently it won't be released here until july 27th.

My biggest problem with Potc 2 was how they pretty much re-used the same jokes in 1st one. The acting was horrible especially Orlando Bloom who showed little emotion(then again he wasnt a good actor in the first place). Jdepp did a good job but i got easily bored with jack sparrows halfway through the movie. The one thing that definitly got on my nerves in PotC2 is that i couldnt understand any damn thing the pirates were saying(overdone accents) which left me in utter confusion.

The things i did like was the scenery and the swordfight in the end.

Expect there not only to be a pirates of the caribbean 3 but a 4th and 5th aswell as this movie is gonna be whored until every last penny is milked from our wallets. So in conclusion i thought it sucked.

i have not yet seen this but you can be quite sure there will be a sequel as long as there are people who know they're being milked of cash for a substandard product but willingly pay anyway...

i really enjoyed it, but then again, i love anything my family can enjoy as a whole, and me, my hubby and the kids, 10 and 3 all wanted to see it.
I was shocked at how many people were dressed up for this movie, and none of em kids. damn. i have a geek fetish, would think it tres cool to bring a saber to start wars, and even i was like "sheesh, what dorks". :D

it is def a classic though, with that behavior exhibited

I got treated to a THX showing of this movie today by a family member....I dunno, it was pretty entertaining although I would not want to sit thru it again ! I'm in LOVE WITH DAVEY JONES! bwhahhahahahhah~!!! 4 stars. Not bad at all. The kids in the theater positively loved it...and so did my mum! rolf!

Great for what it was, a summer action flick. I liked all the pirate lore too. I'll probably buy it to go along with the first.

^ i agree. it’s not trying to be anything it isn’t and it totally delivered on the big screen. yes, maybe it was a bit long. yes, it’s really just one big set up for the sequel, etc.

who cares – it’s a load of fun (e.g the slapstick when sparrow has the pole from the fire attached to his back, the three-way swordfight which ends up on the huge runaway waterwheel, etc.). between the action, the great special effects, davy jones and his fishy crew and depp’s ridiculous over-acting, it’s a great spectacle.

it was ok. i don't think it deserved all the hype it got. it was pretty average in my opinion. and TOOOO long.
