Film: Ocean's 13 (trailer)

now this is a GOOD piece of brainless entertainment.

unlike other blockbusters, this has (some) substance, doesn't insult the audience (much) and is at times actually humourous.

no breakthrough of filmmaking mind you. there are some completely pointless parts, and it seems that soderburgh has begun adding little social commentaries in relation to the lesser fortunate. I dunno, guilty conscience maybe?

this film as a result is pretty decent. the time flys past, and i found myself smiling throughout almost the entire runtime. pacino plays the cunt fabulously and despite her age, ms barkin is just bursting from the cleavage which is almost as spectacular as the plan in the film's plot.
even though there are plot distractions and some twists seemingly added in in the last moment, IMO it's better than the second, but not as good as the first remake (which i adore).
3.5/5

oh jeez, this is so much better than Ocean's 12, which contained perhaps the lamest self-referential plot device in cinema history.

Ocean's 13 has lots of great camera work, great music, and great characters. it's nothing revolutionary, but has just about everything a summer blockbuster needs.
