pretty suprised there's not a thread on this. my roommate recently purchased the soundtrack which reminded me of how disturbingly beautiful this film is.
the plot of this film is rather disturbing but somehow leaves you pondering it as opposed to immediately recoiling. morvern (samantha morton *fans self*) discovers her boyfriend's corpse all but beneath their christmas tree in the first scene of the film. on the computer is a short suicide note and a copy of his novel with instructions and a list of publishers. the film follows morvern as she she copes with death, travels in search of a quiet space, and eventually is the recipient of unexpected good fortune.
honestly if you typed out the dialog ( @ least the parts i can understand) of this film you'd have 2 pages at best. the strengths of morvern callar lie in the presentation, most notably the score. movern's boyfriend leaves her a mix tape and a walkman along with the suicide note and the music on the tape serves as the score of the film.
anyone else who's seen this care to offer a better review?
