Did anyone see this weekends box office gross? Ice Age brought in over $70,000,000!

From what i read online all the cretics were guessing this movie would flop big time, while Basic Instinct 2 would come in on top with gross $$. Yet Basic Instinct 2 flopped horriblely!

NowI want to see this movie. anyone watch it yet?

In ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN, the sub-zero heroes from the worldwide blockbuster CGI film "Ice Age" are back – Manny the woolly mammoth, Sid the sloth, Diego the saber-toothed tiger, and the hapless prehistoric squirrel/rat known as Scrat. In the new film, from director Carlos Saldanha and the Academy Award® winning creators of "Ice Age" and "Robots," the Ice Age is coming to an end, and the animals are delighting in the melting paradise that is their new world.

Ray Romano, John Leguizamo and Denis Leary return to voice our three heroes: Manny, Sid, and Diego. New cast members include Academy Award® nominee Queen Latifah ("Chicago"), Seann William Scott (the "American Pie" trilogy), late night talk show king Jay Leno, Will Arnett ("Arrested Development") and Josh Peck ("Drake and Josh").

Our trio is still together and enjoying the perks of their now melting world. Manny may be ready to start a family, but nobody has seen another mammoth for a long time; Manny thinks he may be the last one. That is, until he miraculously finds Ellie (voiced by Queen Latifah), the only female mammoth left in the world. Their only problems: They can't stand each other – and Ellie somehow thinks she's a possum!

Ellie comes with some excess baggage in the form of her two possum "brothers"...Crash and Eddie (voiced by Seann William Scott and Josh Peck), a couple of daredevil pranksters and cocky, loud-mouthed troublemakers.

Manny, Sid, and Diego quickly learn that the warming climate has one major drawback: A huge glacial dam holding off oceans of water is about to break, threatening the entire valley. The only chance of survival lies at the other end of the valley. So our three heroes, along with Ellie, Crash and Eddie, form the most unlikely family – in any "Age" – as they embark on a mission across an ever-changing, increasingly dangerous landscape towards their salvation.

The film also presents the continuing adventures, or misadventures, of Scrat, who has an even larger role this time.

ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN has everything you loved about the first movie with even more comedy, action, and spectacular visuals. Our three heroes' unyielding friendship lives on with some memorable new characters thrown into the mix. The result will thaw hearts of all ages.

The first one was a cliche ridden bore. The stunning animation is not worth the money with such a shit story. There's no reason to think this will be any different.

I feel your pain. When i see excellent CG animation, i associate it to a short time when EVERY CG film was fantastic. The whole genre got decadent all too fast, didn't it?

I woulda saw it opening night just to see the preview for the new Simpsons movie, but now Ill just wait.

just seeing the face of scratch when opening this thread made me laugh

after seeing his extra in the dvd, i thought they couldn't really exploit his character anymore because they'd just be running in circles with the ideas
well i was wrong
yeah he still just runs after his acorn, but it's still fucking hilarious

the mamouth on the other hand is boring. well, that's his part. but i could have done without

Was this any good? the first one was so fucking hilarious I don't want to go see the sequel and be disspaointed. You're totally right about that squirrel, FUNNY ASS MOFO he is.

i liked both of them, probably the second better than the first.

calm down l2r. they are what they are... pg rated animated movies for children. what exactly did you expect from these types of movies. for most of them to be any decent, in my opinion, they have to start at pg13.

and vegan, his name is scrat, not scratch.

what do i expect? oh i dunno, how's about some good humour.
eg: the shreks, the toy storys, ants, bugs life, monsters inc, incredibles.

the least i would expect from any film is something i can enjoy. unfortunately, the first ice age was boring to me. I post in here hoping that someone will say that this one was much better.

you make some good sense, i guess it just comes down to what you're interested in. in my opinion, bug's life, antz and monsters were NOT funny at all. but i still liked them because they were entertaining. just like the ice age movies, which did have some very funny parts in them, especially the second one.

you can't really put the incredibles and the shrek movies into the same category as those other ones. these are crossover movies. where young kids enjoy the movie but are too young to get the crude humor, and teens and adults like them because of the crude humor. i mean seriously, the only relation that movies like toy story and shrek have, are that they are animated. most people i know would call shrek crude humor, not good humor, and call the incredibles adult humor.

weird, I also thought monsters inc blew dick along with toy story and the incredibles (especially the incredibles, what a pile steaming SHIT!) so I guess its just difference of oppinion about whats funny. I'm downloading the new ice age as we speak so i'll get back to ya with a mini review.

fair calls guys. to each their own.
looking forward to your review psych
