they should have one where harry grows up and becomes all cynical and downtrodden and goes on a downward spiral of booze and lonely wandering, drifting from town to town, and then just ends up as a demoralized marginal who works the graveyard shift at a gas station and hates people, and the movie just ends like that. that would make me happy.

well, there are 7 books in all...

maybe that's the last one...

the author WAS a welfare mum once after all...

the dude that plays victor crumb... hot!
hot hot hot hot hot hot!!!

mamy older folks say that this book was their fave of the 5 released
so far... i dunno if i agree... but i think
this one will be the hardest
to film...

i mean... the world quittich cup finals
and all... but it should be a grand release, nonetheles.

alasdair

me 3

i've had goosebumps from seeing both the trailers for this...i think it looks fantastic!

and i think ron looks hottesttt hottt with his long hair :)

^ hehe when the first Harry Potter came out my boyfriend said, 'I can't wait till it's okay for me to say Hermione is hot.' Is 15 old enough do you think? ;)

Can not wait for this to come out!

just got in from the midnight showing of the IMAX
HArry Crapper and the Craplet of Crap

and let me say

the best book

made into the worst movie

not even 10 minutes of this

potter.jpg

could salvage it.

Why was it so bad ? I'v seen it getting bad reviews across the board, but haven't gone in to read exactly why just yet...

well... for starters....

Emma Watson cannot -- CANNOT -- act
Daniel Radcliffe can BARELY act
Rupert Grint actually is really good,
as are the twins, Tom Felton (tho' he's
not given enough), and Matthew Lewis
(Neville Longbottom)

of course, all the adults are great... altho'
at times, Fiennes' Voldamort performance
was ..... alittle too comical...

since Rowling simply cannot narrate action
sequences well (her OoP sequences were
a joke), the movie's action sequences are
WAY better.

But the pace of the movie is so weird. It's like
they wanted to use the excuse "well, it's different
from the book... it is it's own work" and yet,
they relied on us to KNOW the book...

they start off at the Quidditch Cup... WHICH THEY
DO NOT EVEN SHOW mind you!!!

Viktor Krum was actually kinda what I expected...
he was described as graceful in the air, but clumsy
on the ground... he walk up to Dumbledore in the
beginning kinda illustrated some clumsiness: like his
feet was moving faster than he. Plus he was absolutely
****ing hot.

now, i've rea the books... GoF was my fave...
hands down.... but i really tried to look at this
rhetorically, as if i hadn't seen it....

Some bad parts:
1) not enough Malfoy
2) bad pacing (OoP will be wretched!)
3) stiff acting (i don't think they are really working with
those kids... after 5 or 6 years, they should be better
actors than they are)
4) Oldham's voice only
5) no quittich cup
6) the whole point of the Death Eaters in the beginning
was that they were doing simply "childish" things and
when the dark mark was seen, they broke camp ....
instead... well.... you'll see.... i just don't think it fit.
7) no elves
8) no SPEW
9) the worst editing i've ever seen in my life... you can
see it with clothes and you can especially see it with
Harry and Ron's hair, which cannot stay the same
length scene to scene.

alot of things they are leaving out they will regret
IF they make it to book 6.... and that's a big if.

now, don't get me wrong, you WILL laugh and smile
especially if you've read the books... you'll simply
appreciate seeing it on the big screen... but...

alas, let me get to some of the good parts:

1)WAY MORE TWINS than ever! (I think the screen
writer has realized that they are favourites)
2)excellent Alan Rickman (some FUNNY **** from him)
3)all of the original nationalities were kept (hollywood
tends to "whitenize" things sometimes)...
4)action was better than expected
5)they used Neville alot more

i 'm not even gonna talk about the eye candy b-c
we all know there is plenty of pretty people there
... however, some people stand out

Neville....? he has fake teeth to give him bucktooth
mousiness (that Hermoine was supposed to have)
but you can TELL he is just cute as a button...

Emma Watson is as stunning as she is a bad actress

and the dude that plays Crabbe.... in the Prizoner
of Azkaban DVD, his interview, i noticed he was
WAY skinnier than before... it's completely obvious
now...at one point, the bottom part of his face looked
scarily anorexic...

I seriously doubt that they will make it past Book 5.
at this midnight showing, no one clapped.

I mean NO BODY.

no hooting or hollering.

nothing.

all i heard was

"did you like it??"

followed by a contemplative

"uhmmmm......."

and that spilled into the theatre as well
WHICH WAS AN IMAX!!!

for PRIZONER, the excitement level was
way higher at the end.

i've a feeling the first 2 weeks will do better
than the last one... based SOLELY on the
general consensus that GoF is the best of the
books, thus far...but then word of mouth
will all but kill it, especially with NARNIA,
AEON FLUX, and KONG to take away from
the people who are so-so about going.

My formal bet is that book 6 and 7 will NOT
be made to movie.

but i could be wrong.

and i totally understand the book is way long.... and that
scares me.... imagine the realization of OoP (filming in Feb,
maybe)...! that book is HUGE!

:EDIT:

best quote however goes to Neville tho...

SPOILER MAYBE?

during the second challenge, when it looks like Harry has drowned,
Neville exclaims "Oh NO! I'VE KILLED HARRY POTTER!!!!"

pure fookin' class!

This is Director Mike Newell's filmography. His movies are both wonderful and terrible simultaneously. The film's actually getting good reviews... I suspect the crowd at the imax premier were hardcore fans.
Anyway of course PofA was better, it was directed by the same director as "a little princess" and "y tu mama tambien".

Anyway I'm looking forward to the wonderful terribleness, the last film (PofA) left me thirsting for more. I hate that.

Well so far i'v heard 2 bad reviews online and far more good ones in real life, i'll give it the benefit of the doubt and check it out. Going to see it at iMAX seems like a great idea...

I kind of have to agree with wonderful/terrible.

I watched it last night - and obviously if you don't want to read spoilers then don't read my post

But I was really kind of disappointed that there was a lack of humor with the story - yes it is darker than the rest but I missed Rita Skeeter, and SPEW. That was a riot! It would have been really hard to include everything in there that I would have liked, but I did like it better than Prisoner of Azkaban.

^ well, SPEW would have meant including all the house elf shens....

but Rita Skeeter... 100% agreed on that.

i saw it (again) last night

still disappointed.

with PoA it took me a coupel views to like it.

this one's going on 4 and still no-go.

:(

OoP is gonna suck.

I just wish it would keep the same director.. the movies should have some consistent feel.. but they don't.

They can't have time for that, the kids are getting too old too fast.

I saw it and liked it but I did think the pacing was way way way off. Its christmas, just kidding, its may! I knew they would have to do some trimming from that book, it was just too big to include every single story line. On a side note, I also didn't like the way Dumbledore was portrayed. It has been a while since I read book 4, but I always imagined him as being more in control of the situations and calmer, he seemed like a senile bufoon in the movie.

You watched a movie you thought sucked FOUR TIMES ? You better work at a movie theater...

well, the first one i paid for and took my nephew and his bad ass little rugrat friends....

the second one was kinda a 'date'

the third, i went with a friend.

and then the last one was me and the nephew again to determine if we liked it.

i only paid for the last show (tho' it was for him and i)

plus, student discounts rock.

i meant 2 films per year per book.

sorry i didn't make that clearer

so 6 months after the the first half of OoP is released, then the
second half would be released...

i never liked Rowling's characterization of DD...

especially after PoA.

i mean, he constantly lies to Harry to try and "protect him" and supposedly have this endearing love for him... yet, each year, there's some attack on Harry, and ech year he says to himself "no i won't tell harry the truth i'll keep trying to 'protect' him and maybe next year it will be better/safer..."

i think by the fourth year, if your son was constantly under attack (or even a son-like person in your life) you'd be alittle freaked out ...

and i think DD's 'senile' acting was more the director not understanding why DD uses the pensive (the memory holding device)... it was to free up his thoughts .. it didn't make him stupider...

Gambon's DD in PoA was spot on.

on a side note....

i wonder, if in HBP, they'll use the same Tom Riddles.
I liked him... it'd befunny, tho, if they used him to play James Potter in the pensive scenes in OoP (unless they cut it)... seeing as Riddle told Harry "we even look alittle bit alike" in the second book.

:)
