I enjoyed this movie, but I must confess, I immediately called "bullshit" on that as well.

She was clearly guilty - how was she suddenly free?
 
Exactly why was that ghost scaring the absolute crap out of her, and beating her to a pulp, when she wanted help? There's ways of getting people to help you, other than fear and lacerations.
 
well, crystal meth bunny, although i could not really read your entire reiview due to the words moving on me (thats what acid'll do to ya ;)) I did manage to read the "summing up" at the end of your post and although I do agree with you on almost everything you have to say about the film I think that the name you give this type of movie "chick horror" reveals an androcentric bias in your movie categorizing and i don't see why "bad" horror necessarily need be equated with the female gender.
 
Someone told me this movie is really scary, so one night my buddies came over and i ordered it on PPV and it was the stupidest movie i have ever seen, i don't no how anyone could be scared by that movie.
 
i enjoyed this a *lot* more than i expected to. i actually still haven't seen the ending yet (everyone wanted to go to bed :p), but i've enjoyed it so far.

i was, i guess, really quite wary of this film, because i absolutely adore the neo-noir, darkness-filled, gothic type films, but they often have a tendency to be shitty.

but this was well-acted, perhaps a little ott and corny in some of the shots, but generally quite good. cruz and berry are both okay in it, and the set design is very nice.

one problem with the story: it took quite a while to reveal *anything* about what was happening, and then it was nothing we couldn't have guessed anyway. still, i'm willing to be surprised by the last third of the film :)
