I actually quite liked this. It was pretty funny with good acting; I especially liked the younger actress (daughter). Very entertaining overall.

If you don't know the premise of the film, it's that a mom and daughter trade bodies for a day...

As the only female in my house it was pratically impossible for me to get my family to watch this movie. I kept asking my husband to buy it for me and he kept forgetting. In my journal in entry # 172 i almost snap & have a breakdown when he "forgets" this movie for the last time.

Finally we all watched it and they liked it more then they will admit to. i really watched to see it because first it was one of my favorite books growing up. The author was Francine Pascal who also wrote the cheesy Sweet Valley High series but the rest of her work aside that was good stuff.

I had seen the movie Freaky Friday with Jodie Foster (who was one of my favorite actresses in those days) long before reading the book. I thought it came out when i was 10 but i just looked and it said 1977, so wow, I was 6 when that movie came out.

Anyways, i liked the original way better. But i could be partial to the way it appealed to me then too. I don't suspect they could ever redo it like it was and so i did like how they moderanized it. Like by making her a single mom (even though she was widowed and not divorced). I also liked it because it was cute and endearing movie. The girl in it reminded me of a young Mellissa Joan Heart. It also inspired me to rent the orginal from Netflix.

I did find this review once in a movie journal i was reading about it:

Freaky Friday - Jamie Lee Curtis in skimpy clothes is not a pretty sight. This movie has been done a million times. What made this time different? Well, there was every possible stereotype you could imagine. The busy life of a single mom with her pager, cell phone and PDA all going off at the same time. Have you ever met those women? I haven't. The misunderstood angry teenage girl was overplayed here, and there were some typical stereotypes of Chinese people. I found it insulting and rather boring. Leave it to Disney.

~~ I like Disney movies though so bah! To each their own i guess, eh?

I rented this movie awhile back thinking it was just going to be another freaky friday movie that I probably wouldn't like. Surprised me though, It turned out to be a really good movie though, funny too. I would definitely recommend to add this movie to your home collection.
