in the sense that a good quality story (or at least
a half decent story) is out the window... not to
mention the disregard to any actual comic history...

so, the success of this means that we could be back
to "comic book adaptations in name only" with
bad scripts....

dude there have been so many bad comic-to-movie movies. it doesn't really fuck things up too bad. seriously when my fanboy ass sits in for a comic book movie I expect 3/4 of them to be unbearable.

the comic book adaptations of today (even the sucky ones) are LOADS better than, say, the 80s, when they tried and tried to do comic book adaptations and all it turned out to be was "in name only"

dolph lundred in Punisher?
(did you see that one?)

Captain American???
(how about that one? HORRIBLE!)

gawd half the time they didn't even keep the alter-ego's
REAL NAME.... especially in the TV live adaptation of
Spider Man and Capt. America.

Fantastic Four's glorified B-Movie

you fanboys today got it made.

even crappy ones like Daredevil is at least 80% faithful to the "real" deal...

FF was better than i expected. It's ultra light entertainment and doesn't take itself seriously at all. This makes it work for me and I found it pretty funny.
The characters are fundamentally one dimensional, and have very little room for expansion, lest they become something else.

Better than the spiderman/s, but not as good as the xmen/s.

It was entertaining during the first half, but ultimately disappointing. The whole thing looked like one gigantic music video, with all those trendy camera cuts and popular music soundtrack. It was light entertainment, but nothing special. Not nearly as deep as the Spiderman movies.

I'm only going to see a sequel to this if they bring in Galactus. :)

I watched this last night on DVD and wish I hadn't. Actually I didn't watch the last 1/2 hour. I had my bf fill me in on how I thought it would end anyway.

This movie was meant for pre-teens. I think it had a PG rating. I can't find a movie that I dig with a PG rating. I guess I need more sex and violence. Or at the very least a movie that I can bear to watch til the end.

It had some lame scenes i.e., the Torch motocross shit, The Thing and the blind chick.

Jessica Alba's tits looked great. If I was a 13 year old boy, this movie would be boner city and worth the watch.

Saw this for the first time a couple of days ago...

while the girl may be hot.. i wish this genre of film would die. This is going to be worse than Hulk.
Bet you feel pretty good that you saw it coming, eh?

Pretty much sums it up.

The characters were annoying and trite. Alba is horribly mis-cast, but seems relatively bearable when compared to the pre-teen-in-a-man's-body that plays the human torch. By the end of the film, I wanted to gouge his eyeballs out with a desert spoon and replace them with melonballs.

The Thing looked alright, but the relationship between him and the fireball was pretty uninspired and repetitive.

I dunno, i just don't see making "elastic man" very "cool". Maybe in a kid movie like The Incredibles, but not for a superhero flick.
Yup. It looked horrible and had no wow factor. Two out of two for you.

Whoever the guy was that played him... he sounded flat, uninteresting and the relationship with Alba's character made him look like a paedophile. A stretchy paedophile that could fondle children at great distances... but still a paedophile.

The Nip/tuck guy was lame. All in all, a horrible movie that makes me disappointed that I downloaded it's sequel at the same time. :X
