film: Broken Flowers
EDITED PLOT DESCRIPTION FROM IMDB:
"As the devoutly single Don Johnston (Bill Murray) is dumped by his latest girlfriend (Delpy), he receives an anonymous pink letter informing him that he has a son who may be looking for him. The situation causes Don to examine his relationships with women instead of moving on to the next one."
Caught this at a matinee. It was very good. If you are looking for the typical summer fare of shoot em up car chases -- this is not your movie. In that sense, it is a welcome change from the last couple of months. In fact, the pacing in this film is even slower than Lost in Translation. So, prepare to sit still and think for two hours. Once the movie gets going, however, there are some excellent laughs. Bill Murray is one of those people that can be funny by just appearing on screen without doing and anything, and he uses this to full affect here. There are also a host of interesting supporting characters, most notably, Murray's Ethipoian neighbor.
