film: breast men

so i was flicking channels the other night, and the rather enormous breasts on screen drew me to this film, as breasts tend to do.

i wasn't going to actually watch it - just ogle for a minute - but this turned out to be really compelling, enjoyable and surprisingly intelligent.

it's based on a true story - that of the original plastic surgeons who began giving breast augmentation surgery. eventually health risks became 'obvious' (despite it now having been disproved), and women began to sue their doctors.

very unusual film, but tackles some complex issues; greed, self-image and self-esteem, sympathy within the legal system and so on. in the end, i really really enjoyed it.

i imagine not many other people have seen it, but i definitely reccommend it.

I've seen most of it, but not all; what I did see I thought was well-made, and Schwimmer did a surprisingly good job for a serious role. On the other hand, I just couldn't work up a great deal of personal sympathy for his character; he seemed a little less important than the overall plot, IMO.

I enjoyed the film. Although the graphic pics of the deformed breasts disturbed me.

ah, so it was a telemovie. yeah, i've seen some good ones from hbo actually, nice little station.

I was thinking about this movie just now. I remember watching it at age 14 and wanting to become a plastic surgeon

Never realised it was straight to TV.

Should have it in a few hours.
