Say what you want about him, but Ridley Scott knows how to tell a story. Stylishly.
Everything about this film is pitch perfect. Unbelievable sound editing. Solid acting. The kind of story that makes you proud to be a motherfucking American. Extremely high production values all around. Excellent kinetic cinematography and editing. If you like war movies, I don't see how you can't like this movie. From Sam Shepard to Ridley Scott to Ewen Bremner ... a lot of talent went into this film. Superbly scored, hits just the right emotional wavelengths at the right times.
The scene with the Somali general talking about the Somali way of life to a captive Durant could have been cut. Otherwise, a flawless film. It's not very deep, but it has a lot of raw emotion and carries it very well.
An exceptionally well made film. Seven stars.
