The directoral debut from Rachel Ward, starring Bryan Brown (Australia, Dirty Deeds), Rachel Griffiths (6 Feet Under) & Ben Mendelsohn. Took a while to draw me in but by the end of the film I was in a trance.

One of the strongest first films from an actor turned director I've ever seen, if not the strongest. I'm not sure how widely it's been released, if it's being played in the states - but check it out if you can.

There are only two Australian films that have made me cry and this is one of them.

Forget Baz Luhrmann's 'Australia'.

'Beautiful Kate' is a real Aussie film.
