Film: 28 Days Later

has anyone seen the new version with the second ending? they are advertising it as more terrifying than the original ending ;)

just saw it
one thing to say : first scene - godspeed you black emperor! - the sad mafioso

I downloaded it the other day (by mistake, the file was renamed for some stupid reason) and I have to say that I am disappointed. I hate movies that have patchy plots, although sometimes I feel some movies just get away with it - like the matrix reloaded (although I can understand how many people would hate it). I liked the start, it felt like despite all the cliches it would go somewhere. Even right up until they went into the small military base I thought there was a chance that it would evolve into an interesting story. But it no, from there on it was terrible.

I enjoyed this movie. It was different and was scary in the same freakish sort of way The Exorcist was.

i liked this movie a lot, although it wasn't as scary as i thought it would be.

and i was terribly disappointed by the bonus ending.

Saw it last night finally! I thought it was scary but zombie movies freak me out anyway. I'm sure that I'll have nightmares :S

I thought it was very good and that everyone did a fine job acting, and that the story was excellent. I didn't know what to expect when I went into the movie, I just knew it would be somehow different than the average zombie flick.

Alot of people were complaining after the movie that the nudity was unnecessary and that it wasn't scary enough. I don't think it was meant to be a total thrill ride, but more of a story about the characters and thier relationships and what happens to people when something really terrible happens. And I thought Jim being nude at the start really kind of emphasized the world he was about to face and his situation. Naked, hurt, confused, and just waking up from a coma and utterly alone. Kind of like being born again into a zombie infested hell hole :)

^^I enjoy Danny Boyle's work alot! No complaints from me.

;)

I took the nudity as a clear link that there is really not much seperating us from animals at all.

As displayed later in the movie.

What was the second ending after credits? I neeeeeed to know.

alternate ending

Hmm **spoiler** I suppose :)

What happens is, after they ram the gate with the car to escape the estate, Jim is hurt very badly and Selena and Hannah race him to a hospital. Once there the two of them do thier best to keep Jim alive but in the end he dies. When asked by Hannah what they do now, Selena tells her that they run.

No big shocks or anything.

^
Was that supposed to be the original ending?
I happened to see this this film last night, and liked it a lot.

Saw this last night at the dollar theatre (thank god). I read the reviews, I listened to the people here on BL, and I was let down. I just kept waiting, and waiting, and waiting for it to "get scary" and it never did. Apparently my idea of scary is a little more complex than others.

I didn't like how whenever an infected zombie attacked, the entire sequence was hard to see. The camera moved too fast, it was just too chaotic to look at. In fact, it gave me a headache. Some camera distortion and rapid framing is okay, but this was over board.

I liked the music in this movie, very cool. Classical to metal and back. It played along nicely with the action. I probably wouldn't recommend this to any of my friends, unless they go watch it for .50 like I did. I think I've had my fill of hard-to-understand British accent, too.

I suspect the days of a movie actually scaring the audience are long gone. People are far too aware of how moviemaking is done, thanks to endless "the making of" featurettes. We all know how a bluescreen works, we know what computers can do... so how are we supposed to feel any fear over the events that are being shown to us?

It's all a fake, and we're continuously reminded of that fact.

That's why I think the most unsettling movies being made today are probably the psychological thrillers.

Older movies still have some thrills left in them though. I still get creeped out whenever I break out my copy of the Changeling - not a special effect in sight in that one.

Im definately waiting to see this film. I was a big fan of Danny Boyle when he made Trainspotting and Shallow Grave(some of my faves.) I hear that this is back to the Boyle we first new, nothing like 'The Beach' which I found terrible.

I'm pretty sure they said something about just Great Britain being infected and the rest of the world WAS going on normally somewhere in the movie.

I watched this movie a couple days ago and loved it. I have always been heavily affected by zombie movies since I was a kid, so of course this one got me good... The whole concept of being forced to kill an "infected" loved one always bugs me out. I guess I just "what if" too much while watching movies, but I digress....

I really liked the movie, not a new concept or anything, but definately a good twist on it. I really liked seeing Jim (minus the gratutious penis shots)wake up and walk through the desolate city. I liked the use of music in the movie too, the typical horror film music was absent from this film, which I thought was great. Kept me up on the night I watched it, so its a damn good film in my eyes.

Was I the only person that thought the 28 days were going to occur over and over again?

When the camera shot past the beginnings of the message "hello" it said "hell" and at this point, I figured that this scenero was the hell which was created by Jim's mind (in a What Dreams May Come sense). In fact, I think I would have liked this film better if that was the point of it.
