FHM 100 Sexiest Women 2014

^^ Unless you are a spotty teenager.

Honest question:

Do straight, cis men actually need pictures to look at, in order to masturbate?

I don't need pictures but they certainly make it more entertaining... I find nigh on impossible to visualise anything in my mind though, so that's probably a factor.

For what it's worth, I actually agree with raas on a lot of what he said up there ^.

Heh, interesting! Yeah, I thought that's what 'typical' guys were like.. my mind is always far more interesting than anything I'd find in pictures though. =D

I kinda wonder this sometimes as a (mostly) gay woman. Like shit like Nuts or whatever don't do a thing for me, despite me displaying 'typical' male behaviour if in bed. I lived with six people last year. All were straight men obsessed with porn whereas myself and my MtF housemate were like 'eh'. Porn isn't really a thing for me unless I'm on speed.

Being cis and mostly lesbian I can't get off to lesbian porn, but I know a lot of straight cis women who do, to the point of needing it to get off. Odd.

A spotty teenager with no internet? Seems unlikely. Even when I was a spotty teenager we had hedgepron rather than shitey sleb dross mags. If you're wanking to pix anyway at least do it properly. Is there no part of life sacred enough to avoid the taint of celebrity obsession these days? 8)

Yeah, visualising in my mind was what got me this morning. I then vaguely feel guilty and then think 'fuck it'

Shame it didn't open up any interesting discussion, isn't it?

Then again, this is EADD.

I think the discussion has been done to death anyd people where perhaps just not inclined to follow the path in which the thread was clearly heading again, for once. Theres still some time left to resurrect it though sam to bring it back off topic so it becomes more EADD again with the same old faces, why dont you start us of? :)

At the risk of sounding daft, what does "cis" mean?

The new name for Jif.

Shame it didn't open up any interesting discussion, isn't it? And shame it fell upon raas alone to question the subject matter of this thread.

Then again, this is EADD.

More interesting discussion than what some journo decides to line up women to gawp at for sure. It's not the gawping I object to its the pretending it is anything more than that. I see nothing especially wrong with any man or woman wishing to earn a living through flashing the flesh - as long as it is their choice I don't have any issue with it. I do have an issue with it being expected of people where it should make no difference. A singer or an actor sings or acts - they should be required to get their bits out (or near enough) and act as wank material as well.

No, it's a fair question. Literally, "on the same side of".

"Cis" is the opposite of "trans". In chemistry, the C=C double bond can't rotate; so (for example) both cis-1,2,dichloroethene and trans-1,2,dichloroethene exist (draw the molecules and see for yourself: the first has both Cl atoms on the same side of the double bond, the second has them on opposite sides) and are chemically different.

I was using it to mean "cissexual", as in "not transsexual" -- i.e. a man born a boy, or a woman born a girl.

I don't often buy FHM but I used to often when I was younger & I watch porn but that doesn't change my expectation or standards of women... it's just fantasy really. FHM might be exploiting a baser instinct of males but for better or worse it's part of our culture now. It has been for a very long time.

Just because it's a part of our culture doesn't make it ok! Slavery was once a part of our culture. We're identifying what's wrong with our culture and why so many people grow up insecure in this day and age.

It's unfortunate for the women who feel long term insecurities because of this pressure but I think largely speaking that is part of growing up & for the vast majority of people they suss out that they don't have to live up to these false standards.

Feminism is soooo 1913. ;)

It's part of a bigger problem of the glam-culture that the media bombards people with. Younger people being particularly vulnerable. While it's true many will eventually learn not to take notice, it would be nice if they didn't have to grow up with the harmful influences. Media depicted glamour can set a composite standard for how relationships and attitudes towards the opposite sex can follow. As i said before, it's a recognised cause of eating disorders, behavioural problems etc.

Was pretty disappointed by this input, Shambles. The other day you put a really good post in the "How can we get EADD popular" thread about standards of beauty that the media creates and people try to blindly replicate. Was expecting more from you here tbh.

Never heard that term til I took a gender studies class in my second year of uni. Although it's hard to get a hang of saying, it's umpteen times better than going 'normal' which despite my own circumstances I find kinda gross due to other reasons. Had no idea that that was the origin of the word, though.

And I just said the same thing here only worded differently. Think my views are fairly balanced and reasonable on this myself. Who are you to tell people they can't choose certain career paths? That's no better than expectations the other way in my mind. You're inflicting your own issues and expectations on others. There's nothing wrong with people who genuinely do want to earn a living by getting their bits out - or do it for fun and free if they so wish. The problem is when it is expected. Or when it is objected to on purely personal taste grounds. I deeply dislike the culture of semi-nekkid people being used to advertise absolutely everything. Also deeply dislike celebrity culture that is completely obsessed with soft porn shoots. That is not the same thing as blanket condemnation cos I don't condemn the nekkidness I condemn the expectation of nekkidness. This has always been my position - sorry to disappoint you but I'm not here to please you either. I suspect we are more in agreement than not - no need to go to extremes and I happen to have more shades of grey in my outlook. Perhaps 50 or so but wouldn't know cos heard it was terrible. Shades of grey all the same as in all things.

Well, yeah. Calling someone "normal" implies that somebody else must be "abnormal".
Which is precisely why I dislike the term. I don't think I'd refer to myself as a 'cis woman' purely due to how it's not exactly a common term outside of LGBTQ circles, but then I guess that is what I am. Just don't like the term 'normal' nor 'disabled' just to open another can of worms ;)
