Ok the other day i went to the doctors and he prescribed me 25mcg/hr fentenayl patches. I read the manual for the prescription and it says dont take it unless you are opiod tolerant. Before this prescription i was taking oxycodone 5mg every 4 to 6 hrs I was taking approx. 4/day= 20mg/day for about a month and before this I was taking Norco as needed. Just wondering if i would be considered opion tolerant and if it will be safe to take.

20mg of oxy would be considered a pretty low dose imo.

From this website it says that ~30 = 25mcg.

So I don't think you're in terrible danger if you take it as prescribed. I know people who have died by trying to eat the matrix, so I would suggest slapping it on and not trying to fck around with it

Your Dr switched you from that low dose oxy to fent? Why didn't he just up your dose on the oxy or put you on Oxycontin? If 30mg of oxy=25mcg fent, then you're gonna be taking a lot more than what you previously were. 25mcg/hr over 24 hours is 600mcg, which by JamtasticX conversion would mean the equivalent of 720mg of oxy in a day. That just doesn't seems right. I know fentanyl is extremely quick acting, so there's a great need to redose frequently, but that just seems like A LOT of fent to be on when you were only taking 20mg of Oxycodone.

I looked up opiate conversions myself and what I saw was that 20mg of oxy is equivalent to 100mcg, so it would seem like these patches would be like upping your dose of oxy to 120mg/day.

Be really careful, if you feel like you're too high, take the patch off. Fentanyl has taken many a users life due to how potent it is.

fent is strong in the way as will cure pain and get you zoned out super duper. First time i dosed fent i layed back and literally thought i was walking around and i opend my eyes i was like wtf still laying down. yes your tolerance is at a safe level to skin that patch just follow the directions and dont place it over your heart until the second patch. After your first few doses it wont get you stuck super duper so enjoy it while it lasts. DO NOT DRINK WHILE USING FENT UNLESS YOU WANT TO GET REALLY REALLY HIGH.

This is unnecessary. :!

I think what you meant is DO NOT DRINK WHILE USING FENT UNLESS YOU WANT TO RISK YOUR LIFE.

Considering this is a HR site; advocating someone drink on fent to get really high is counter productive.
Especially when you take into account the OP is increasing there opiate dosage as it is, adding another CNS depressant is just greatly increasing his risks.
Other than that the advice to just wear it as prescribed is good.

Fentanyl is a very potent narcotic & should be treated with extreme care.
Use it as prescribed & do not mix other CNS depressants with it.
If you are using it for pain management then this is your wisest bet long term.

If your looking to get high on it, there are plenty of threads on the subject.
Just make sure you realize the extent of the risks involved if that is your desire.
Take care & be safe. :)

ok another question. I'm on my fourth patch so im 11 days into using the 25/mcgs. by taking these for a week did i build my opiate tolerance up? And am i all clear of the possibilities for respiratory depression? i know there is always a chance of oding on fent. especially if there is something wrong with the patch. I guess what im asking if my body was gonna start shutting down from it would it already of happened?

Yeah you built your opiate tolerance up, at least by a little. Yeah if you have been on them for 11 days, I am sure as long as you stay on the same dose, you will be just fine.

Also, check out information about fentanyl in the Fentanyl Mega Thread. You can find this link in the OD Directory.
