Today I left oxycodone behind and moved to Fentanyl. I have too addictive a personality to ration my pills and I am tired of suffering WDs every couple of weeks because I am short (again).

Anyhow my goal isn't to abuse these but use them. I have 3 day 50mcg patches. My doctor said some people find they only last 2 days so he is willing to script around that. Anyhow my main question is this: I put my first patch on about 15 minutes ago on my right "lovehandle" and while most of the patch stuck well some, especially around the edges, didn't stick so well. Is this an issue, or is all the drug in the adhesive anyhow?

I've always placed the patches on my upper arm, on a freshly scrubbed, clean, dry, hairless area. Hit the area with a shaver, pick an already relatively hairless area of course. After buzzing it, clean the area well. Try to exfoliate the area as much as possible, dead skin cells are the enemy here.

After a wash and rinse, dry the area. After you're done, you're ready to place the patch on.

Peel the backing off and apply it from one end to the next in one smooth motion. Similar to how you might apply a band-aid. Once the patch is on, leave it on. If you try to remove it and re-apply you will most likely ruin the adhesives sticky quality due to the dead skin cells latching on as you peel it off.

I have used medical tape before to hold the patch in place, eventually the patch will sort of 'latch' back on to you. If the patch is starting to peel back around the edges you can apply thin strips along the edges of the patch to help them stick.

Thanks for the quick reply! It may be paranoia on my part but I just covered the patch and surrounding skin with strips of medical tape. You can't see patch anymore, heh. I will go with the upper arm next time. I have almost no hair there anyhow, so a quick swipe with my fusion while I am shaving anyhow should do the trick. Thanks again!

Yes, we wouldn't mind an update. Glad I could help you out though.

I'm going to close this thread as I seem to have answered your question, but you should feel free to stop by the BDD Social if you'd like to give us an update, or even just chit-chat about whatever. Of course if you have any other questions you can always start a new thread. ;p

If anyone would like to add anything send me a PM and I'll re-open it.

If you ask you pharmacist, i think every company that makes the patch (I know for a fact at least Mylan) make a special adhesive custom for each patch. This is nice because it leaves a clear openeing over the patch so if you are in need of a paramedic, its easier for them to spot and see what it is. Whereas if you tap the corners its harder for them to notice what it is and get if off. Most of the time they are free and mailed to your house or the pharm might have some behind the counter. Its easier to deal with than the tape method.

Thanks for the advice! I could only afford 4 patches right now, so when I get paid and pick up the rest on Friday I will ask about this.
