FENTANYL - Suffering w/ Deficient Patch?

I changed my Fentanyl patchs yesterday. Prepped by cleaning with rubbing alc and shaving the location on my chest(as always). Everything seemed OK. The patch seemed to have a little more airspace in it than normal, but looked to be the same as all the others I've ever used. I did not heat this one to kick start the process. I need this one to last about 60 hrs to make it to my next prescription.

Today, about 24-30 hrs into the duration, I already started to get aches. My back and legs started to hurt more than they have in a long time. I though maybe weather related change in barometric pressure causing increased pain.

I checked the 100µg/h patch and it is adhered just like always. So is the other.

Presently, it is about 40 hours into this schedule and I am suffering some of the worst pain since starting these patchess. My back and legs, arms, and neck feel like someone beat me with a baseball bat.

I don't think I can make it another 20 hours before changing it out but I have no choice.

Has anyone ever found that a Gel patch does not contain the Fentanyl dosage it should? If it does, could the membrane be defective? I can't figure any other reason for this serious pain.

I certainly don't want to advocate illicit or otherwise "extramedical" use but if it's unbearable you may weigh the pros and cons of cutting it open and ingesting the gel. This works however it defeats the time release mechanism thus giving you all the active ingredient at once. If you chose to do this please ingest only a little bit at a time. When no gel is left you can chew on the patch.

It was a defective 100µg/h patch. I changed it right at 48hrs to a new one after I started shaking from WD type symptoms, and now everything is back to *chuckle* normal so to speak.

I opened the the old patch and squeezed out a pea sized blob, rubbed it on my cheek after swabbing the mucous out with vodka. Nothing. Then I took a BB sized gob to smoke. Still nothing. I even went so far as to mix the remainder in a sinus spray bottle w/distilled water and after utilizing the whole amount(over 30 min time), I JUST barely noted some pain relief, but no woo-hoo!

I should have exhibited a greater effect if the contents were indeed 'to strength', but how can you prove it. Why would just one patch out of several boxes of 5 cause the WD symtoms if it wasn't the gel that had very little fentanyl or a patch with a defective delivery system. I argue AGAINST the latter, because by opening the patch, I should have been on the la-la-land express.

So, in closing, I would have to say that 'somehow' I got a fentanyl deficient patch. But with Q/C, I can't see how any company could ship a drug with no/deficient active ingredients.

Anyone else ever come across other drugs/delivery systems with this problem?

Hmm.....interesting! Never heard of this happening before.

I can't explain it any other way. I mean I cannot attribute it to anything that I did differently. I shaved the place that I put it which was right on my right breast area. I switch the big & little from one side to the other, but really put them in the same palce all the time, so it can't be a location issue. I didn't use oil or soap.

Like I said in the OP, I noted a bit more airspace, but didn't think it really mattered. But I could feel it after 24 hours, the Fentanyl was leaving my body and I was hurting.

I wonder if Watson would acknowlege that there have been defective/deficient patches in the past.

Oh well... No sense beating a dead patch. It is done and over with.
