Opioids Fentanyl powder in Northwest USA, tried search, please help

Hello, I have wandered these forums for a long time and until recently had plenty of answers for my questions through archives.. I have come across this new "pure fentanyl powder" substance from a friend, and when I expressed what I thought was a fairly thorough understanding of pharmaceutical opiates he just looked at me like I was an idiot and said "this is pure fentanyl dude". And I replied well I thought fentanyl only came in liquid, patch, or sucker form. And he just replied "this is straight from china man all I know is that he said it was fentanyl, pure". Well... I have heard of china white H, but never in the northwest USA. it was a very fine sticky crystal powder sold in 1g bunches for Benjamin Franklin's sake (I hope that is allowed, if not I am sorry). and when a few fairly tolerant friends tried smoking it, they all went to the nearest chair and nodded it out (It turned into liquid after heated). needless to say it seems pretty potent... and after doing a little research came across a few local articles about a few people overdosing on what seems to be the same stuff... So could anybody please explain to me what you think this may be? My best guess was just his friend taking the gel and crystallizing it, but after hearing of more widespread use could it be something else? All replies and thoughts are appreciated. Thank you.

But it sounds like it could very well be fent. It's actually relatively easy (although if you fuck up you produce a very deadly substance) to synthesize fent, so who knows...
 
It may have been produced in clandestine laboratories. That is all I am going to say about this since it is against the rules to do a substance ID, but I wanted to make sure that you know that fentanyl is extremely potent, so much that it is measured in micrograms, so please be careful with it, or better yet avoid it altogether. If it is pure, the you need an extremely accurate scale to measure out doses. Be safe.
