I was given a Fentanyl transdermal patch.

The patch was square, tan on one side, metallic and shiny on the other side. I seem to recall the packaging saying "Teva."

The patch is designed to deliver 25mcg per hour for 72 hours. A somewhat low dose, but I don't fool around with Fentanyl at all.

Personal Information: (Slightly skewed for privacy)

~6'2 / 74inches / 182cm

~110lbs / 50kg

~ In excellent health as of last check-up.

I have a tolerance to most opiates. Before I took a few weeks off for sobriety, I was taking about 40mg of Oxycodone a day. On the days I was not taking Oxycodone, I would take between 250 - 350mg of Tramadol. I also used Poppy Seed Tea frequently.

I applied the patch to my right hip at 7:00PM Thursday night. I placed firm pressure on the patch for about 30 seconds in order to make sure it was secure.

Around 10:00PM I remembered the patch and determined that I was not yet feeling any effects. I looked online and some users have reported it taking up to 10 hours for the noticeable effects to begin.

I called it a night and went to bed around 11:45PM. (Thursday)

I woke up around 9:00AM Friday morning. When I woke up, I wasn't feeling a lot, just a very subtle warm feeling in my chest and legs. I stood up to go to the bathroom and by the time I was in the bathroom I felt an overwhelming rush of euphoria and other sensations. I would imagine this is the same rush one might feel after IV morphine. I had to sit down in the bathroom due to the dizziness and the battery of feelings. The dizziness aside, it was an incredibly wonderful experience. I felt so warm and had the "everything in the world is fine" feeling. My mind was clear and not foggy at all.

I spent about an hour in the bathroom, showered, got dressed and left. During that hour I just felt like I was getting higher and higher, but not at all "out of control" or "scary."

10:00AM - I reached the kitchen and thought about eating but nothing seemed appetizing. I just wasn't hungry and I was fine with that. I poured a big glass of lemonade and drank it quickly, then poured another and drank it as quickly. I couldn't seem to quench my thirst.

I spent the majority of the morning and afternoon watching TV and surfing the net on my laptop. I was extremely chatty, relaxed, and just enjoying everything I was doing. Even tedious games like pinball brought me great satisfaction.

5:00PM - My family goes to visit my aunt and uncle on Fridays every week for dinner. I normally drive myself to these events but I decided that would be unsafe. I sat in the backseat of the car and for the first time in my life I was not feeling queasy from not being the driver. I was still very happy and chatty.

6:00PM - Dinner went well, I conversed with my family and felt very emotionally connected to them. I was able and willing to listen to everyone's stories and compliment people on things I wouldn't normally notice.

Skip forward to 10:00PM - I returned home and sat on my laptop for most of the night. I began to get a heavy feeling in my body, my legs felt warm, yet at times I could not remember what position they where in without looking.

It was around this time (11:00PM) that my eyes began to feel very heavy and dry. They appeared normal in the mirror, but they felt like I hadn't slept in days. This was strictly my eyes though, I did not feel tired myself. I continued throughout the night on my laptop, talking to old friends and just being friendly with everyone.

Around 5:00AM (Saturday) I dozed off listening to a radio show. I slept very well, some of the most restorative sleep I've ever had. The only problem was that I just couldn't muster up the energy to get out of bed. I slept until 9:00PM Saturday. I was just so happy, warm, and fuzzy that I couldn't think of anything better than going right back to sleep when I was awake. I can't describe it, it's like every time I woke up I just immediately wanted to be asleep again. It was a great feeling and I was incredibly euphoric.

I woke up for good around 9:30PM (Saturday) and hopped out of bed rather abruptly due to a knock at the door. I raced downstairs and by the time I reached the door, I was once again very dizzy and felt like I had a booster-shot of Fentanyl. I felt as if I was still at the peak of the experience. I had friends over the evening and no one seemed to notice I was intoxicated. I spoke clearly, words formed just fine, nothing seemed impaired. It was again a great experience chatting with friends and I completely chalk that up to the Fentanyl.

After a very short time I began to get very sleeply and I could think of nothing better than curling up under my covers and dozing off to my radio show. I believe I feel asleep around 11:30PM (Saturday)

I woke up at 12:00 PM (Sunday) still feeling great, although the intensity of the high had worn off considerably. I had a dull headache and felt almost hungover. I drank some juice and had a small breakfast, although my apatite was still shot. I read somewhere that applying heat to the patch can help increase the rate at which it absorbs into the skin. I laid on my side and pressed the patch up against a heating pad. This worked like a charm, within a hour I was beginning to come back up, though never back to the peak. My headache dissolved.

I spent the rest of the day out and about with friends. Again, I wasn't impaired in any way. I was very chatty and friendly. I truly enjoyed hearing people talk to me and I became very involved with people who needed to vent and get things off their chest. It was a very "spiritual" experience.

I fell asleep around 9:00PM (Sunday) and slept until 5:00AM today, Monday.

When I awoke this morning, I removed the patch. Some lingering feelings remain, I have slight mood elevation and I still feel "at peace" with the world.

Some after-thoughts.

This entire experience was remarkable. Before starting I was convinced that I would be tired of being high after a day. It turns out that being on cloud nine for 72 hours is fantastic.

  • Pro's:
  • Intense Euphoria
  • Increased Empathy
  • Very Sociable
  • Desired being around people
  • Not Irritable
  • Fantastic Sleep
  • All my stress was gone, I did not worry about things like I normally do.

  • Con's:
  • Minor Headaches throughout.
  • Very minor nausea.
  • Unable to get out of bed.
  • Dry and heavy eyes.
  • Perhaps too open and talkative at times.

The patch took about 10 hours to begin. Since I was asleep for most of those 10 hours, it may begin sooner in someone who is awake and active. My theory is that it takes awhile for the drug to cross the skin barrier and build up sufficient levels in the blood stream before effects begin.

It really is fantastic to be able to apply a patch and be good to go for an entire weekend.

I can see myself using this as a spiritual tool of sorts. I became so open minded and emphatic that I could use this tool for self-searching and helping others.

On a more serious note: Fentanyl is a very, very, very potent drug. I chose the lower dose of 25mcg per hour because I am a small person. Please be extremely careful when using Fentanyl because of it's potency. I would recommend anyone that has one of these patches to use it as a patch and not attempt to smoke or inject it. It is just far too easy to overdose. Please do you research and remember that everyone's body is different. Start small! You can always take more later, but you can never un-take anything. As always, please be careful mixing this potent drug with any other drugs, including alcohol. Do not drive.

Thanks for reading! All feedback is appreciated and I will check often for any questions.

I've never actually worn a patch, only eaten/IV'd it [as the OP said, do not IV this shit]. I'd be very interested to wear a patch because the high is so short-lived when using other ROA's.

Ah, I love fentanyl. I had a close friend who was on Medicaid for a broken disk so he received an endless supply of the patches for free for years. When I met him he was wearing 5 large dose patches at a time (can't recall how high, but it was up there) and he had just gotten a major surgery done and was going to start kicking, so his doctor decided to wean him down to wearing less of the 50 mcg/hour patches, and then switching to morphine pills. Once he was on the morphine he had 7 patches that he gladly gave me for free. Once he kicked the morphine I got 300 60 mg time release pills of those fronted and he only asked for $1 a piece back. Ahhh... those were good days.

I'm shorter but weigh 130 and have very little opiate tolerance, and I remember it taking 3 hours to kick in. By the 12th hour I was retching so I took it off and it took maybe a couple hours to wear off. I reapplied with medical tape but this didn't work as well so I just started wearing a new one and sucked the delicious juices out of it with a friend who's a heroin user (not my cup of tea, personally, tried a few times); he said he liked it a lot too. I would definitely rate is as my second favorite opiate next to morphine, with oxycodone being below fentanyl.

A small update

I've used the 25mcg/hr for 72 hour patches a few times more. I've found a few slightly alarming things.

As a rule I won't sleep until I've been "feeling it" for at least 6 hours. I've done some reading and it seems that Fentanyl is even stronger than I warned. Please be careful.

Also, it's been stated before, but I tried the method of applying heat to the patch to perhaps increase the amount of drug released. Bad mistake on my part, it made me very nauseous and lightheaded, to the point I called a friend over to watch me for awhile until I was out of the woods, so to speak.

After a few uses it seems to take effect somewhat more rapidly. The first time around I would guess it took 8 - 12 hours to kick in. More recently it has taken less time, perhaps 3 - 6 hours. This may be due to my placing it in the same area of my skin, or it could be pure placebo.

It really is a great med. 72 hours of bliss! If anyone else chooses to apply heat to the patch to increase intake, I've also found that it dramatically lowers the amount of time the patch works. Around hour 30 I applied heat, in the form of a "hot hands" packet, for half an hour. I felt the patch wear off around 60 hours as opposed to the normal 72 hours.

I hate to be redundant, but please be careful with this drug. It's extremely potent!

Take Care,

fentanyl is the only opiate i ever vomited on. Never once in my three years of heroin and oxy use (high doses too). It was a pretty great high, more powerful than heroiin, but with way less euphoria. thanks for the report. and yeah, i never wore the patch, just ate the jel.
