Best,
Does anyone know about how long opiate tolerance takes to build up? I was sick for about a year, and I got duragesic 25µg patches for the pain associated with chemotherapy. I had a biopsy a few weeks back, and I've been taking 4*10/325 Norcos a day since late September. Anyways, I was wondering if anyone could advise me if I can use one of my patches, or am too opiate naive at this point to mess with fentanyl in any capacity.

I was on 45mg of oxy daily when the pain dr switched me to the 25mcg patch without any problems. Oxy is a little stronger than hydro sooo. It seems about right but I wouldn't bet ur life on that. Everyone's different so it's really gonna be hard for anyone besides a dr to say with any kind of certainty. Sry I couldn't be of more help.

Opiate/Opioid conversion to Fentanyl Transdermal System

Hello SquirtReynolds. I feel for you. I myself am in remission from Hodgkin's Lymphoma. I sympathise with your situation. In regards to your issue, I put in a little time searching for an answer. Just as the previous poster said, remember, everyone is different and a doctor would be your best conformation. Check out http://dailymed.nlm.nih.gov/dailymed/archives/fdaDruginfo.cfm?archiveid=49245 Search your drug of choice. Thanks for posting.

Try medical cannabis in addition to whatever your doctor gives you. You're in southern California so it's legal for medical use and highly available.

But to answer your question, probably not too naive. If you've been using 40mg hydrocodone a day than a 25ug/hr patch is not unreasonable. If you feel overly medicated with it on, TAKE IT OFF, the medicine will stop flowing and you'll come down.

Fentanyl is approx 100x stronger than morphine and several hundred times stronger than hydrocodone. That's why the doses are measured in micrograms.

I was on 150mcg/hour fentanyl patches a few years ago but struggled with them as I found it hard to get them to stay stuck and never got close to the advertised 72hrs of pain relief per application.

Good luck.
