when i look at the world, i see everything in words ~as a poem ~ so many of them are similarly themed, but ive found that looking at the same thing over and over- or repeated contact with the same place/situation, can be interpreted with constantly changing interpretations and meaning - thus - another poem devoted to getting drugs...

driving – smoking down 7th
left – trinity
little crowded heads
of the eager
babble in bunches
and smoke their
amphetamine lunches
we snake around the corners
~ a rectangle ~
we are so used
used to this
and yet our little hearts
still flutter with
whatever it may be
that keeps them
keepin on
anticipation – fright
on our way
to make the means
of this night
worth something
anything really
because any night
~ impaired ~
beats the opposite
in a HEART BEAT
he slams the door
shakes off some
slimy weasels
who’s long dripping noses
prod at his face
wet with ripened need
the pipe is hastily loaded
and we are well on
our way away
gliding down congress
as felons

Definitely. I think it's easy for some writers to fall into the trap of thinking, "Oh, I've written about that - I don't need to write about it again." When in fact, they've only scratched the surface. It's like saying, "Oh, I've spoken to that person once, so I don't need to speak to them again." I think revisiting is right at the heart of poetry.

And... the most 'sordid' pastures are often the richest, once you cut below the surface. Or at least, that's a myth that's worth revisiting. ;)

Love your opening:
