I just have 3 quickies that I would be most grateful if they were answered.
(1) How long do trips last for
(2) Do they keep better in the freezer like pills and whizz do?
(3) What keeps them better, in lil plastic bags, in paper, or in paper in plastic bags?

don't freeze them, cool and dry is good

duration varies but 5-7 hours is a good approximation

pills should not be kept in the freezer. moisture can get in and make them crumble.
acid is best kept wrapped in foil. then in plastic. and then in fridge or freezer... imho

thats right soma. I'm not sure where the myth about boths pills and cofee in the freezer came from. Keep it is an air tight container in a dry, cool place, or in its original packaging if the seal isnt broken. I hate frozen coffee. It tastes horrible.
Oh, and never pour boiling water on coffee. It burns it. That is where the bitter taste comes from. let the water sit for between 30 secs and half a min. It shouldnt be over 90 degrees. um... anything else? magoo, any input

oh by the way i just noticed that my question "how long do trips last?" wasn't specific enough. I meant basically what is the "shelf life" of trips. ie what is the limit in terms of length of time between purchase and consumption.

Well it depends...
depends if you can be fucked making a filter coffee just for yourself. Its a pain to have to clean it out and shit, same with the expresso maker. But then again - depends also if someone else in the house drinks coffee. Because most likley they will have a stash of instant around the place that gets used as well - when you are in that 'can't be fucked' mood I'll just hit the instant (don't get me wrong, propper coffee rocks it over instant)

In response to coffee DON'T BUY COFFEE FROM RHUMBARELLA'S I'm not sure if that's how it's spelt, Mr Horse and I had the worst coffe of our lives there, disgusting burnt shit, that I cannot imagine to describe. Stick to Hudson's that's what I say.

Hudson's??? Urrkkk!! What the fuck possesses ppl to buy almost a LITRE of coffee (those damn EXTRA-LARGE coffees @ Hudson's)? Horses for courses I suppose.
One suggestion is to go to Segafredo (if you're in Melbourne there's one right across the road from Hudson's in Elizabeth Street, either sitting outside on the cnr or inside which is just around the corner). If a tallish guy with a small goatee (like the 3 muskateers!) and an accent serves you, look up to the sky and say "Thank you God!".. He will make you a fucking awesome coffee!
Or go to DeGraves St (just off Flinders Lane behind the big National Bank on Collins Street).
 
The most sensational coffee I ever had was bought from Camberwel market that is on every.. 2(?) sundays.
It was the real shit. Went over to a mates place who had bought it and he made a mecha coffee from one of those steel expresso makers (I now have one

). Before then I was a milk + 1 sugar. Since then it is black with nothing - he made me drink it black and I have never looked back

Soma....he he he he..The real thing!? What is the REAL thing? Coffee beans ground 'while-u-wait'? Vacuum sealed, pre-gound coffee beans(like Lavazza, Kimbo, Coffex, Sao)? International Roast? :-)
One of those steel types...The one's that screw open so you can add the coffee and the water? Mmmmmmm...caffettiera coffee..yum yum!! Now they make nice coffee!
Almost as good as coffee from espresso machines you can buy but without the thin layer of 'cream' on top! Thanks to my girlfriend I have one of these....a birthday gift...Ain't she the sweetest????
If I ever get to meet up with any of you BLers (I'm in Melb!) I'll gladly make you one of these they are sen-fucking-sational!!

OK IMHO, good coffee? if any of you ever are in singapore or msia or anywhere.
try the local variety! its strained in one of those handheld coffee bags and drank REALLY REALLY sweet.
I'm talking half condensed milk half coffee!!!
been trying to get my hands on some over here in perth but no luck so far!
