have never done speed - but everything I read about it suggests that it is incredibly addictive and the comedowns are brutal. can you all describe what the high is actually like ? is it a very pleasurable feeling ? how does it compare with ecstasy high ?

the addiction from speed (although purely phsychological) is very very powerful, simply because its great to have that great feeling and loads of energy for large amounts of time. also it seems the come downs arent so bad at first but the more you get into it the worse they become(probably because of the sheer amount consumed). when you say speed im gonna go ahead and clarify. Methcathinone-CAT, good "fucked up" high, doesnt help your attention span, highly addictive, you can spot this shit becasue it leaves a black residue when vaporized on foil. avoid this shit
second theres the amphetmines-(in order of recreational value) Dexedrine,Adderall,Ritalin. these are the best thing your gonna get if you live in europe unfortunatly. then theres methamphetamine. meth is the only high that compares to mdma, its very similar but without the trippy thinking patterns(more descriptive word?).
my conclusions on speed are that its completley useless as a mood-booster unless you could stick to a relatively moderate dose, which ive never seen anyone who could, this doesnt mean noone can but its a bad road to turn down. if you want a good feeling take ecstasy if you want to lose 50 lbs and stay up for days, do speed.

My personal experience w/ speed is that it gives me nothing more than an inability to fall asleep. Maybe I'll babble a bit, but no euphoria a la cocaine, my preferred stimulant. But there are many, many people who disagree with my opinion on this. Try the search function; this topic's been covered about a zillion million trillion times. (And that's a whole bunch.)

You can get better euphoria than that of coke. You just need to do high quality meth, and you need to do it right. I find doing lines don't produce the wonderful feelings that smoking or IVing it does. Also, I found the crash got better after time. I did meth for about 6 months, my peak addiction was 3.5 grams a day everyday. I found that when I came down from meth I just got *tired* and didn't really have the body aches and everything that I had when I first started.

You really only hear the negetive stories... people don't post "I use meth and I am not an addict", no, instead you hear peoples horror stories - hell, even I am guilty of posting some of these stories ...
In short:
Meth is NOT physically addicitve, however, it's definitly a drug thats psychologically pleasing and the high is something you don't really want to come down on - but it's 100% willpower... I got hooked not because I fell to the cravings, I simply did meth all day, every day (as we always had it) - when I realized I was hooked, I quit...
The crash sucks, yes, this is true - but you can take care of that with benzos, narcoitcs, or even marijuana... also, if you're a weekend warrior and keep yer tweaking to the friday-sunday frame, you wont crash like you hear people describe (the days of agony and pain, etc..)
So don't worry, rail a gagger and rock and roll!

I'm assuming you are american, and in that case, speed = meth.
BTW, TrippinTreeToker -- are you off your rocker? You said that "meth is the only high that compares to mdma, its very similar but without the trippy thinking patterns(more descriptive word?)" That is total bullshit. Neither mdma nor meth cause "trippy thinking patterns". Perhaps you were thinking of MDA.
Meth IS quite addictive, but psychologically, not physically. You just need to make sure that you never have too much of the stuff lying around, and try not to do it more than once a week. That should prevent any addiction from developing.
As for comedowns, if you do meth orally, which is the most euphoric and similar to MDMA, the comedown is not that bad at all. If you make sure to drink enough water, you will be better off as well.
The high is less overwhelming, and somewhat less lovey-dovey than the MDMA high, but otherwise pretty similar. You do get a body high/sensitivity, alertness, euphoria, talkativeness, feeling social, restless, etc. It is just less intense, except for the restlessness and speeded up feeling, which is increased with meth.
