Fear of Gyms?

When you visualise yourself in a bubble do you do it from the outside or in-? I'm not being flippant. It's just that 'visualising yourself in/doing...' type advice is something I've always found difficult to do.

Often, even controlling simple thoughts seems impossible. Like imagining a switch or door being open or closed and it moves by 'itself' without me being able to control it. Even when I try really hard.

Any tips for visualisation techniques?

I don't understand why you wold have an issue with going to a gym to work out. You are there to exercise and get back into shape. Everyone there would probably be happy to see you trying to get back to a healthier lifestyle and I doubt that anyone would bother you.

You could always run, jog, or walk outside on your own time. It sounds like the biggest issue you have with yourself is your weight. Once you get your weight down a bit it would probably be easier for you to join a gym and stick with it. You could also buy freeweights and a simple weight bench so you can strength train on your own time in the privacy of your home or apartment.
