You could do a cold water extraction with hydrocodone and remove the apap
Yes but if your a chronic pain patient like i am your going to loose a good bit of your prescription. It would actually be nice to have hydrocodone in pure form as a painkiller in between codeine and oxycodone. Usually if codeine didn't work for you they would prescribe Demerol but due to it's toxicity it has fallen out of faviour so you can only get that from older doctors these days. Though it still is used for migraines quite abit. You can get hydrocodone here in Canada in pure form as hycodan and it's generics both in tablet and syrup form. There are also various combinations containg doxylamine and other anti-histamines. Unfortunately you can't prescribe it for pain here! it's only prescribed as a anti-tussive and hardly ever for that. I wouldn't mind having it as a painkiller because oxycodone does not help headaches much for me at all.
This rule is stupid beyond belief. Drugs like Vicodin, Loratab, Norco and others all contain pretty high doses of acetaminophen so if you have anything more then mild-moderate occasional pain your liver is either going to take a beating or your going to be in alot of pain. But as someone who's been there pain overrides common sense if it's bad enough. All this ruling will do is end up hurting patients who actually need a drug that's not as strong as oxycodone for chronic pain.
