favourite oldskool rave track

=D
The minute ecstasy is legalised (which will happen one day), this is the track that every rave, every club and every house party should play. It's one of my alltime favourite tracks <3

With all respect that is due, and not wanting to be too much of an old fogey....this aint Old Skool or 'Ardcore, as I would call it. To be fair its a nice commercial dance track, uplifting yes, euphoric maybe..but Old Skool ..no way=D

1) 'Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)' was released in 1991. 'Rave' only started in 1987, so something that was released in 1991 is pretty old-school in my book.

2) The thread title is not 'favourite hardcore track'. It's 'favourite oldskool rave track', and as I previously explained, 'Everybody's Free (To Feel Good)' is old-school, and it most definitely was played at raves (Rozalla did live PAs at countless raves throughout the 90s).

3) The track was commercially successful, but that's only because it's so good!!!!

I attended "real raves" as in free parties from 91-2000 and never heard that track or anything like it. I aint trying to be snooty, I actualy don't mind the track track but IMO "Old Skool" refers to music from the genuine underground of the early 90's and this just aint it.

Maybe its just a matter of what you belive "old skool" means but if your gonna suggest that DJs were spinnin this at genuine "raves" back in the day I'm guessin you were'nt there.

You obviously only attended the really underground raves then. But just because something is commercial doesn't mean it can't be old-school!!!!

I love this tune!!!! I actually remember N-Trance performing it on Top Of The Pops when I was a kid. I loved it then, and I still love it now!!!!

It's a shame they followed it with really cheesy cover versions of 'Do You Think I'm Sexy' and 'Stayin Alive' :\

at the time it was seen as utter bollocks and cashing in by people in the scene but its all relative to your own experience

I like a lot of underground dance music. I also like a lot of pop music. Hope that's ok with you, joe?

Agreed, as I said a guilty pleasure;)

IMO rave is a term that refers to the underground scene anything else was a parody, that said many people clearly enjoyed the commercial do's and we have to accept that for them they were going to a rave .

I did go to clubs at times, mainly Labyrinth in Dalston when there wasnt a free party on, but a warehouse at 3 in the morning with 5000 people all on snowballs was where it was at=D ;)

@mdmahead
No its not ok.There was no mention of my liking or disliking it.There was no mention of wether you should or should not like it.You are an argumentative projection troll that needs conflict to feel good and that I cannot fix.Reread what I typed.

I admit I do enjoy a good arguement. But I have no idea what you mean by 'projection troll'.

I just find there's a lot of snobbery amongst people who attend clubs/raves. It annoys me when people slag off an artist/track just because it's commercially successful. You said 'Set You Free' was seen as 'utter bollocks and cashing in' by people 'in the scene'. I think it's a shame that people 'in the scene' couldn't appreciate it for what it was: A good pop song.
