Hey ya'll. i havent seen a thread where you can post a poem that you like by other people so i thought i'd start one. Basically just post a poem by someone you like and if you want to say something about why you like it, go for it.

i'll go first.
.........................................................................

a form of women
by robert creeley

I have come far enough
from where I was not before
to have seen the things
looking in at me from through the open door

and have walked tonight
by myself
to see the moonlight
and see it as trees

and shapes more fearful
because I feared
what I did not know
but have wanted to know.

My facd is my own, I thought.
But you have seen it
turn into a thousand years.
I watched you cry.

I could not touch you.
I wanted very much to
touch you
but could not.

If it is dark
when this is given to you,
have care for its content
when the moon shines.

My face is my own.
My hands are my own.
My mouth is my own
but I am not.

Moon, moon,
whn you leave me alone
all the darkness is
an utter blackness,

a pit of fear,
a stench,
hands unreasonable
never to touch.

But I love you.
Do you love me.
What to say
when you see me.

R. Creeley has become my new fav. poet. His poem are all written in such a simple language yet all the ones i've read so far have been very powerfull.
i suggest people give this a guy a read, its worth it.
:\

I can't say this is my favorite poem, nor can i say he is my favorite poet, all i can say is that they are both worth the time.

What are you doing here?
What do you want?
Is it music?
We can play music.
But you want more.
You want something & someone new.
Am I right?
Of course I am.
I know what you want.
You want ecstasy
Desire & dreams.
Things not exactly what they seem.
I lead you this way, he pulls that way.
I'm not singing to an imaginary girl.
I'm talking to you, my self.
Let's recreate the world.
The palace of conceptiong is burning.

Look. See it burn.
Bask in the warm hot coals.

You're too young to be old
You don't need to be told
You want to see things as they are.
You know exactly what I do
Everything

Jim Morrison

This poem has been my favourite for many years, although i'm nut sure who the author is.

WHO WAS THAT FRIEND AGAIN?

So now little man you've grown tired of grass,
LSD, cocaine and hash,
And someone pretending to be your true friend
Says i'll introduce you to Miss Heroin.

Well before you start fooling with me,
Let me inform you of how it will be.
For I will seduce you and make you my slave,
I've sent men much stronger than you to their graves.

You think you could never became a disgrace
And end up addicted to poppy seeds and waste.
So you'll start inhaling me one afternoon
You'll take me into your arms very soon..

And once i've entered deep down in your veins
The craving will nearly drive you insane.
You'll need lots of money as you've been told,
For darling i'm much more expensive than gold.

You'll swindle your mother and just for a buck
You'll turn into something vile and corrupt,
You'll mug and you'll steal for my narcotic charm
And feel content only when i'm in your arm.

The day that you realise the monster you've grown
You'll solemnly promise to leave me alone.
If you think you've got the mystical knack
Well just you try getting me off your back.

The hot sweat; the cold chills; your gut in a knot,
Your jangling head screaming for just one more shot,
The vomit; the cramps; the withdrawal pains
That can only be saved by my time white grains.

So you'll desperately run to the pusher and then
You'll welcome me into your arms once again.
I when you return; just as I foretold,
Know that you'll give me your body and soul,

You'll give me your conscience; your morals;
your heart,
And you will be mine until death do us part.
Who was that friend again?
