Famous Chemist Images

What about a picture of Alexander "Sasha" Shulgin, PH.D. The "Godfather of MDMA" who, as a foresic chemist employed by the DEA used his schedule I liscensce to synthesize substituted phenyethelamine and indolamines in his backyard lab in Lafayette, CA were he had carte blanche to conduct his research. He tested new compounds on himself and then group of close friends and fellow psychonauts. He published his results in the influencial book PIKHAL. This provoked the ire of the DEA, who with the help of other allied law enforcement agencies from CA and the county of Alameda, shut down his lab, trampled all over his pet peyote button which he and his wife had been nurturing for 10 years, and pulled his liscense.:X This episode is well documented in his follow up book TIKHAL. Before the DEA gig, he worked for Dow chemicals and managed to secure a lucrative patent- which gave him a lab to play in- for a while- until some of his expirements with psychedelics embarraced the company. A gig at the edgewood arsenal and a faculty position at Cal Berkley is also on his CV. Besides rediscovering MDMA, his accolades include bringing the world other classics such as 2-CB, 2-CE, 2-CD, 2-CT-X and a bunch of other phenylethelamine and indolamines. There is a cool old pix of him in his lab somewhere on the web.

Regarding Strike- haven't seen his influencial text total synthesis II or whatever its called at the local headshop book section. Wonder if this was part of his terms for parole. His website , the Hive, is long gone, but much of it is preserved on Rh--dium.com.

Carl Lange 1834-1900, Danish doctor and neurologist. One of the discoverers of the mood stabilizing effects of lithium salts. Go Denmark =D

Cant find an image of German chemist Anton Köllisch, the inventor of MDMA. But he deserves a spot as well.

thx.

Strike's book Total Synthesis II is a great and entertaining read and attractive to boot, but plz don't follow his advice. It was published by Loompanics.

A simple google search just now turned up some copies still available for 50 dollars.

Despite an ivy leauge education, this guy (and the many like him) are able to churn out some very pure heroin......

This is all very roll-call lately. Most of the faces are (or were) industry or university figures. The underground motif has been abandoned.

They don't have to be drug discoverers; just synthetic simplifiers or shadowy popularizers.

Like Rhodium:

Nuke is a woman; a woman who naturally has a testosterone serum level of 800ng/dl, of which 4.3% is unbound.

The picture in post 67 is of Frank Lloyd Wright, the American architect.

^^^^Which huge shoulders, pimples on the back and a disturbingly enlarged clitoris?

At least she would be able to write music?

Ever wonder why women dont write music, historically or now. I know there are now a few rare female composers (i am not talking about "song" writers"), but none sound good. The women that currently do composer probably have higher than average testosterone music, still I cant see any groundbreaking female composer. They just dont have the balls for it........
