Family Intervention

I am happy to report that now I'm at 110mgs a day and I'm starting to get relief that lasts until around eight or nine o'clock at night. Well, I'm fine until I dose the next morning, but I feel "good" until around 9 PM. I dose around 9 AM everyday. I'm not experiencing much in the withdrawal symptom department. Like I said the methadone is holding off my intense craving until the late evening. At night, especially at work, I do have some pretty intense cravings though.

I work at a restaurant so I work late, and I'm around drugs. I have done very well staying away from using though. In the past month since I started dosing, I have only used once. It has been hard, especially knowing that I can get something whenever I want to. I am trying so hard to quit and give the methadone a good shot at doing its thing. I want to quit and for the clinic to work. It is working already, I am actually saving the money I'm making. This is the first time I have saved money in four years.

Does anyone know if methadone eventually gets rid of your cravings for the entire day. Like I said, I'm at 110mgs a day. I know that is a lot, but I was doing a lot for a long time. I already plan on being on methadone for years so I don't need a lecture on how hard it is to quit and the higher the dose you take the longer you will be on it. It has changed my life around in a month. I just don't want to have cravings and slip up or get into anymore trouble. I want to take my dose, go to work, take care of life, and go to bed everyday. That is all I'm asking for right now.

I would love to hear from some fellow methadone clinic people on how it is working for them and what I should expect from going to the clinic. Thank You for anything you have to say.

I think all that matters is that you want to quit yourself. You are correct; if you want sobriety, you can have it.

As long as you are getting clean for YOURSELF, and no body else, then it will work.

Many people are forced into quitting drugs/alcohol, or are threatened to go into a rehab or attent AA/NA, and they rarely succede because they are just people pleasing, and not really shooting for sobriety.
