Tainted and defiled

Bloody stumps
A permanent reminder

Your stumbling gait
Is pathetic yet admirable
An adumbration
Of mortal metamorphosis
My mawkish caresses
Fall from your face
Like rain from the sky
You once navigated.
i wrote this poem at the beginning of 1999 - well over a year and a half before i met my (now ex) boyfriend. but as i flipped back through my old work, i realised that this poem fits him perfectly - so this is for him now, because all my love wasn't enough.
