Opioids Facial Tics resulting from opiate use

I have noticed the last year or so, that whenever I take opiates, that I develop some odd Facial tics, such as constant blinking, as if I am trying to rehydrate my eyes if they were dry, but I keep doing it for hours and can't seem to resist the urge to do so. I als use to grind my teeth really bad, but that seems to have stopped completely. I think alcohol had more to do with that.

Does anyone else get any weird tics like this from opiates, or other drugs such as benzos? I would assume most stimulants could cause this, but could be wrong. It only happens when I doing opiates. It also is more prominent when I think about it. If I stop focusing on it sometimes it will go away.

And another strange thing I've encountered from opiates that has also only been happening the last year or so is that when I come-down from an opiate, or no longer feel its effects, I become really paranoid and start thinking that there is always something behind my back, or just worry about stupid things, such as being in the dark. I find that this paranoia mostly happens at night when everyone else is asleep and I'm still up. I never use to get this effect from them.

Then again ever since I took SSRI's most drugs have effected me differently, and not in a good way. With most drugs, all euphoria is gone, especially that warm, fuzzy orgasmic feeling that opiates, and MDMA, produce. It has been 3 years and I still can't feel euphoria from almost anything. I have heard that it can take up to 5 years for your brain to re-wire itself from SSRI use, and that it may never work as it use to before taking SSRI's.

I've never gotten any thing like that from opiates. Stimulants, definitely.

Yup! I can take a lot of opiates and no one be the wiser. One adderall and I'm moving a bit different, but no one knows. I have always been able to keep what I'm doing to my self.

Hey Bigsherm, This really got me thinking when I read this because lately the twitching for me has come back. It started in 1996 and I had been to doctors trying to get to the bottom of it. The twitch was more in my ear, like a muscle spasm and it drove me nuts. Looking back on it, I was taking SSRI's at the time and ended up getting no good explanation or diagnosis. Just the doctor figured it was stress related from a new job and gave me alprazolam which calmed it down a bit.

It completely stopped when I quit all medications that same year because I was pregnant. So fast forward many years, here we are in 2013 and I thought this was a distant memory. It started again a few days ago and I'm wondering why? Yes, I'm stressed out over a couple major life changes so that could be it. But coincidently I've taken tramadol, not every day but a few times a week this past month.

They really help my pain but if this is one of the side effects, I'm going to quit taking them. I never got this when using oxycodone at all and I was on them for several years. I think it may be a SSRI thing though.
