Conspiracies Facebook outage after whistleblower interview

Trying to remember the last time a “whistleblower” went public with a PR firm, press email contact, full legal team and Senate appearance.

I think this happens pretty often, especially with those who are financially secure and protected by the whistleblower laws. Not to mention she might have already had a PR firm and legal team...

They have the hook. We the catch. What is it they want from us? Control? I learned long ago if ya throw off a mf emotions ya got control. tested and experience(s) in my own life have convinced me that this true-ish thing. I mean, there are always exceptions but sex, violence and drugs sell themselves since forever. If hatred is spread knowingly (aint knowbody stupid just ignant) there creates the divide and conquer strategy that has always worked.
I dont know folks
Tired and confused

Okay so apparently she was a product manager that worked there for a while, among the thousands of other product managers at Facebook?

This can't be real right? So transparent LOL. Within a day she's allowed to speak at a senate hearing. I'm legit laughing out loud at them expecting people would just swallow this crap.

Except that the whistleblower didn't reveal anything new.
I also don't understand why they'd need to shut everything down for hours, losing tens of millions of dollars in the process, to remove incriminating evidence. Doesn't make sense to me, unless someone can convince me otherwise.

before the inevitable government oversight of Facebook
I hope not, but it indeed seems inevitable. It would be catastrophic news. Governments rarely can be trusted with these things.

I think the 6 hour blackout was deliberate.

why would they need a blackout to 'tidy up' anything?

the blackout drew a huge amount of attention to facebook which is surely the last thing you want if you're trying to hide something?

if i have learned anything in life it's to never ascribe to malevolence something which could equally be explained by human incompetence...

alasdair

Then shortly after.. https://arstechnica.com/information...tsapp-and-oculus-are-down-heres-what-we-know/

Now it's been down for like 6 hours. I work in tech, there is literally nothing that should keep a large company like that with the resources and employees they do down for this long.

It's either a serious hack and internal panic/conflict, internal sabotage/strike, or... they are busy destroying evidence. Either that or all their SRE need fired.

Lol, maybe some uber powerful Russian mob botnet was contracted to ddos their dns servers specifically today to make sure as many people as possible are googling "facebook" today.
I found out the problem. Mark Zuckerberg reached puberty 😄

So the demigod in charge of censoring, squelching free speech, and pumping the narrative propaganda on faceborg comes out against Faceborg? 🤣

Facebook "Whistleblower" Frances Haugen appears on 60 minutes Oct 3, 2021 to excoriate Facebook for generally causing global harm and for specifically allowing organizers of the "Capitol Siege" to use its platform. Facebook and its associated apps (Instagram, WhatsApp) experienced a worldwide outage throughout most of October 4, 2021. "Whistleblower" Frances Haugen receives a Congressional Hearing on October 5, 2021; immediately after which Facebook's Director of Policy Communications agrees and requests Congress to regulate the Internet so that more accounts can be exponentially censored. This all took place within an unprecedented 48 hour period.
The Facebook whistleblower story arc engineers a narrative carefully crafted to provide statist authoritarians with the opportunity to demand that 'thought crime' viewpoints on social media be censored even further in the name of "democracy" and "fair and equal," treatment. Media claims that both Republicans and Democrats are now urging Congress to regulate the internet, which tells us that both parties completely support the authoritarian national security state over the constitutional republic.

OODA Loop:
The Facebook "Whistleblower" scenario represents a textbook example of the OODA (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) loop of information warfare. It's a process that defines how humans react to stimulus. "The OODA loop models a feedback loop between the decision-maker and its environment. Actions alter the state of the world, which is then perceived during future iterations of the loop. Advantages over opponents can be gained by 'operating inside their OODA loop' - deciding and acting faster than they can in order to appear ambiguous and unpredictable" (Boyd 1987b, p 44, 47).

What does it do then? Look at that AI Twitter bot that they had to take offline. It started off all cute and immediately (within a day) turned in to a troll praising Hitler and tweeting super extreme racist tweets.

They use AI to automatically flag hate speech, spam, terrorism and whatnot (this isn't perfect, as it sometimes bans people/things unrightfully). Some automatic image labeling too. And recommender systems for adverts, and maybe for the timeline and comments you see first, although I would think those are more algorithmic.

The AI does not cause it all to go offline and did not change anything at all (AI can't). They don't put the most extreme left and right stuff at the top, they show the things to people that makes them more likely to stick around and scroll through the timeline, and this is based on previous data they collected. Facebook is not an AI created platform either.

Next time you are scared of AI, remember that NLHE poker is not a solved game. It can't even play a 52 card game, so how would it suddenly gain consciousness and do all this by itself.

The article you linked means nothing, it was just trained on data that contained those words. Doesn't mean the "AI" thinks for itself. I'm confused you somehow think it is related to your earlier comments but whatever.

Facebook algorithms absolutely do put the most extreme left and right stuff at the top of people’s feeds. They have been doing it for over a decade now.

Read this article from the WSJ (read it all the way through and don’t close it and try to open it back up, otherwise you’ll have to subscribe to the WSJ. That’s how they get ya).

they show the things to people that makes them more likely to stick around and scroll through the timeline,
Why do you cut of this part? Explains your questions broski.
I did forget "and more likely to come back later"

I don’t think you know how AI works? Especially when it is unleashed on practically every person in the world and gathering everyone in the worlds thoughts, feelings, locations, fucking everything it needs to know about human behavior and humanity. This is an intelligence that is a trillion times smarter than any human on the planet, and that scares the shit out of me!
Like you said, if an AI fell down for Hitler, i don't think they're smarter than us or a rat or a pigeon if there is any difference, it's a machin who doesn't have access to the collective subcouscious, it's obsolete.

Trillion times smarter than any human and can't even drive a car
