EZ Tests still relevant?

Hey guys...

It's been about a year or so since we've rolled. We are planning on rolling again next month, and as always, are planning on testing our pills.

If I recall correctly, pipes were really starting to show up a lot more right around the time we took a break, but again, IIRC, they weren't showing up on the EZ tests. If this is incorrect, please just correct me.

My question is, are the kits still trustworthy? Have "harder to detect" pipes come onto the scene?

As far as I know pipes do not show up on the EZ test complete kits. I believe there should be some method to test for pipes, but I don't know of any kit that tests for pipes.

Piperazine pills seem to come in two forms

1) straight piperazines - may fizz with the marquis kit but give little to no colour change

2) Mixed pills - these often contain a small amount of MDxx to trick the tester - normally the reaction is very weak, watery or may take a long time to turn blue/purple.

I do think that kits are still your best defense against shitty pills / adulterants.

If your thinking about ordering a new kit then 'before' you order with eztest check out the banner at the top of Pillreports for a new (and cheaper supplier) or PM me.

Foxy: I've been testing for a while now, wouldn't have it any other way ;)

Bear: do you think I need to get a new kit? I've still got plenty of solution left from my old kit, and I was under the impression that it doesn't really "expire" so to speak.

To everyone: Thanks for the input, this is exactly what I was looking for. We are introducing someone to rolling for the first time, and I just really want to make sure it's a great experience (they all should be after all!)

I was only pointing it out because you asked about testing for pipes, and there are a few pictures of what you should look for regarding pipes.

You can test your kit on sugar. The link is at the top of the pillreports forum. Then you will know if you need a new one or not.

How old is your kit? Some people report that after 12 /16 months the solution turns dark brown due to it oxidising.

Why not check the 'How to test your test kit' thread and test on something like sugar / asprin.
