HELP!!!

I've been suffering from extreme, I mean extreme, fatigue for the last few weeks.

I eat well and take a multivitamin every day. I sleep 7 to 8 hrs a night. I get a moderate amount of exercise. I'm not overweight. My drinking and drugging varies, but I don't do anything to an extreme-- certainly not the way I used to (I'm 56). I do suffer some depression but it seems to be relatively mild right now. I have some back and shoulder pain, but not severe. I tested negative for diabetes about six months ago.

I have never been this lethargic for so long. I feel utterly exhausted all of the time. Just getting up the energy to do anything is a huge chore. Hydrocodone or oxycodone help tremendously but I don't wanna get strung out like I have been in the past, so I only take a couple pills a day and not every day. Any kind of amp would be great, but I don't have good connections and don't wanna get dependent on that stuff, either. I love coffee but it doesn't help. I don't know much about herbal remedies but the ones I've tried in the past didn't seem to do anything.

Any ideas? I don't have a regular doctor, but if this goes on much longer I will find one. Until then, what do you do for increased energy? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I'm on a tight budget but I will try anything I can afford.

Thank you for your help.

What used to work for me was having a regular sleeping patern, where I slept a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 8 hours a night. To actually get out of bed, I needed 1 cup of coffee and from then on I just needed to keep myself busy.

I think it would still work, but I'm just using speed nearly every day now... 8)

^watch using speed everyday especially if you are using benzos. I could caught out before with the double whammy and no back ups. Was intense w/d's and a month of amp use comedown coming at me. felt like I was going crazy.

I've already experienced the hell it can unleash before, but I guess something inside me thinks that's worth it.

First thing you should do is get a full blood workup, including your iron levels and thyroid response. I've experienced deficiencies in both and they can cause extreme fatigue with rapid onset.

Iron and vitamin B12 are two common things that I am usually missing when I feel myself being extremely fatigued.
Ephedrine is helpful (rather than coffee) to give motivation during the day but I'm not sure that's what you're looking for. I'm unsure of how legal it is in all areas but in Canada it's fine.

Like the others have said though, definitely go see a doctor and have them look into it!!!

I remember an old trick during my track years, anytime I drank water in the morning, I could ran faster and water. So yeah, drink enough water and get your vitamins. If you take any sleep medication at night, this might be a cause.

This is the best approach. I have to take synthroid which gave my fatigue a little kick, but I do have hep c and that is my most prominent symptom.

the worst thing you can do for naturally occurring fatigue is to medicate with scripts, it will help temporarily but only leave you feeling worse later. you need a full work-up at a primary doc office, a good multi-vitamin, drink plenty of water, and at your age(no offense) you should begin analyzing your diet and making any necessary adjustments in order to promote a more healthy way of life.

My body is battling its 5th night without sleep.. only consumed 2 p on wed, 2 thur, 2 fri, 1 yest n 2 today

How have you gone since the 16th of nov methdreams? You must have crashed and slept off your 5 night meth session by now. I bet you felt a little sluggish for a few days after your first sleep. There really is some potent ice around town at the moment. I've been lucky so far and on average only had 36/48 hours or so awake and then i manage to sleep I think it's the 200 mg of seroquel i take daily that is keeping me from stressing out and suffering long term insomnia

Exactly! If you want to properly tackle your issue then you need to do some preliminary work to begin the process of elimination.

Given your symptoms, I'd focus on nutrition. It's good that you take a multi-vitamin, but they are usually useless. There's too much packed into them, and usually in chemical forms that are not very bio-available. Try these cheap alternatives:

Buy pure milk of magnesia (the ingredients will say magnesium hydroxide and pure water, nothing else): add 1 part milk of magnesia to 4 parts vinegar (apple cider vinegar is best). Let it react. It reacts to form magnesium acetate, a highly absorbable form of magnesium. Take one tablespoon of that, twice daily between meals. If you take more than that, you'll shit. One tablespoon of magnesium vinegar = about 120mg of magnesium. Magnesium is needed for over 300 biological reactions in the body, most of which we don't fully understand yet.

If you eat eggs, keep the shells. Wash them out and dry them. Bake them in the oven at 110F if you're concerned about contaminants. Crush the shells into powder using a coffee grinder or whatever's handy, and add them to vinegar. It will bubble and react. Keep adding shell until it no longer dissolves. If you see shell settling on the bottom, the solution is maxed out. Half a teaspoon of egg shell powder = 400mg calcium.

If you hate vinegar, don't worry, the above methods remove the acidic edge to it, so that it tastes almost like nothing in your mouth. (These are elementary acid/base reactions.)

Consume blackstrap molasses for iron, pumpkin seeds for zinc.

Take at least 2,000IU of LIQUID vitamin D daily, to help absorb these minerals.

Last but not least, B vitamins! Your body needs them to break down complex molecules and convert them into usable energy. Lack of B vitamins causes fatigue. You can take a B complex, or you can consume a wide array of vegetables, lightly steamed is best. If you eat them raw it's not the greatest, and likewise if you cook the heck out of them that's not good either. For B12 you'll need meat, but fortunately not a lot of it.

The stuff I mention covers the basic nutrition groups responsible for producing energy in the body. If you suspect low thyroid, try adding sea vegetables to your diet: nori, kombu, kelp, etc. They're awesome!
