Ive had this problem before using gbl, but since using gbl its developed to such a difficulty i lie there at night trying to force the spit down but it just doesnt!

anyone know what it could be?

Do you experience spasms? How is swallowing difficult? My suggestion would be to abstain from gbl consumption until you have an idea what is going on. Hope this thread provides that info for you, but I have to admit I do not even have a clue as to what is going on as far as your difficult swallowing. This seems the province of an ear, node & thought specialist, but most of us have to access specialists through our general practitioner who may well know what is going on with your difficulties anyways.

How long has this been ongoing?

Pills should always be swallowed with water, dry swallowing pills can work for the moment but often causes serious problems over time. Probably not the problem here but was worth mentioning.

I don't even know what Gbl is but I also have serious difficulty swallowing, sometimes often.

It's a really shitty problem to have. :( It's like swallowing just doesn't come naturally to me. I will be eating a steak or something and the bite of food I'm chewing will move closer and closer to the back of my throat, and when it gets to the point that my throat should start swallowing it down it's like... it freezes up. And then the food moves further back and I start to choke.. and then I begin to panic, and my throat freezes up even more. I usually can get myself out of it if I remain calm, and immediately take a big chug of water... but there have been times I've actually started choking because of this and it's really scary.

Don't even get me started on what trying to take pills is like for me... :( I seize up in my throat/choke even on small ones and I can't take bigger ones *think, calcium pills* which really sucks because I sometimes need to.

For me this problem seems to be a mental one, because it's usually worse during times I've having a lot of anxiety attacks in general. Because I know it's mental I can coach myself through it but it sucks because every time I do choke, the fear of choking gets worse and worse. :(
