NMR scan of product:

Aromatic:

6.53 - integral 0.66 error 3.5%
6.55 - integral 0.66 error 3.2%

Theoretical integral values were compared with experimental and 99.5% purity value was calculated with respect to integral peak area of APAP characteristic aromatic peaks.

WARNING: Proceidure done on oxycodone presents an OD risk. The powder obtained is ultra pure and a single ''line'' can contain up to 200mg oxycodone. Caution when handling the solid product because it tends to absorb through the skin. Watch for spots on your clothes left from separation. Recommand changing/washing of clothes. Gloves should be worn at all times. If you experience difficulty breathing during separation proceidure, get naked under the shower and discard clothes. If symptoms persist, dial 911.

He's discussing how to do a cold water extraction through a more complicated process than that of what normal CWE'rs would normally do.

He's adding a given quantity of codeine/APAP preparations, heating and dissolving them, filtering it with a micron layer, and then evaporating off the water so what's left is codeine powder.

This thread is weird... I undestand what the pic's about, but this Dr. Ninja guy is too scatter brained it seems..

Abstract: 300/15/8 pills are mixed with hot water and shaked well in a closed bottle. The extract is filtrated and boiled down to about 10% volume and refrigerated. The caffeine is filtrated and the recovered codeine solution dried on a plastic wrap foil.

Ok so I see some folks are puzzled, why the dick would anyone do this. Well, I used to do CWE just like you guys. I CWE a dose 2-3x a week. Aside from forcefully having to take the equivalent of a cup of coffee in caffeine content every time, I was TIRED of doing CWE. Precisely, I used to CWE 60mg codeine. I'm a lazy person so what I did was this:

Instead of extracting 60mg every time, I extracted 6g and put it in powder form, in 100 small gelatin capsules.

Advantages:

- No caffeine
- 3-5 years expiry date on capsules
- 1 extraction provided the codeine quantity for a year so I don't have to break my dick doing 100 CWE
- Codeine is within hand reach. All I gotta do is pop a pill, instead of getting my ass off my chair and playing the chemist for 20 minutes every time I need some.

Disadvantages:

Possession of controlled substance in amounts of 6g.

will this work with regular codeine/apap pills which don't have caffeine in them? if not how would the procedure vary?

thanks

KJ

^No need to do so many steps. Just bring to boil, chill to zero, and filter.

Ya, about 50mg still contaminate the final extract containing 6g codeine.
Do you have values for the solubility of caffeine at 5° C? You go into the final filtration with 300ml of water or so correct? This seems high to me.

That's for 1Kg of pills. 1Kg of pills contain about 15g of caffeine and only 0.01g disolve in 1mL at freezing point so 300mL would contain 3g. I left it to 300 to give a margin, because something fucked up happens at that point, perhaps if a more knowledgeable chemist is here to help me I would appreciate it:

Take for example a solution containing 10g codeine and 20g caffeine. After boiling it down from 300mL to 30mL, the solution becomes brown and the caffeine doesn't precipitate at all even after refrigeration and thorough stirring(not supersaturation). I have no idea what's going on, in my opinion, the caffeine forms a complex with the phosphate ion that keeps it in solution. It just doesn't break out even after refrigeration.

So I have this refrigerated solution, 30mL in volume that contains 20g of caffeine and 10g of codeine. NO precipitate is visible. I had to look up caffeine's solubility...it just doesn't make sense.

The only way I was able break the caffeine out of solution is to freeze it rock solid and melt it back down. When doing so, all the caffeine magically precipitates, to the point where a paste is formed, rendering codeine recovery impossible at that point so you basically gotta add up some more water and CWE the codeine, this time from caffeine!!! And once you do so, a brown solution is recovered, pure white caffeine is left over and after drying it up, the codeine is recovered with a sloppy 90% yield.

I try to come up with a routine like way of doing this but it requires understanding of what the dick is going on! The trouble is that nobody here ever done this before and cannot come up with a relevant hands on experience.

To resume the issue:

1) Brown solution obtained after boiling
2) The visible properties of the solution remain intact after cooldown 100C-5C
3) When freezing, and melting back down to 25C, the brown solution becomes a white paste. Sudden change in composition!?!

Can anyone explain why 3) occurs?
