extraction dilemna

Does anyone know how or even if you an do a cold water extraction on a timed release drug. Particularly, I'm speaking of 150mg darvon HCL. (pure propoxyphene). How can you get all those beady doodies to release their shit at one time?

you can do a cold water extract with a time release drug--once you break it up you eliminate the time-release properties anyway.
but I have no experience extracting propoxyphene, so I'm just speaking generally
FYI--if it comes with a buncha caffeine, which darvon usually does I think, the caffeine stays in your solution.
