Stimulants Extracting Methylphenidate from Concerta

I've had some trouble extracting Methylphenidate from my Concerta pills (alza 54's).

I have referred to multiple guides on this process, but mainly used lenses's guide for extracting it for IV use (which I have no intentions of doing).
I also used some other guides that refer specifically to preventing lactose from dissolving into the solution.

My process:
1. I took a glass shot glass and put about 15 ml of 70% isopropyl alcohol and placed it in the fridge. Note: ISO is labeled as Wintergreen Rubbing Alcohol; 70% by volume with Methyl Salicylate added. It also lists an expiration date of October 2001.
2. Took apart the alza 54 pill, saving the outer shell and the white and pink parts. I disposed of the grey/black time release part as well as the wax coating.
3. I then crushed the white and pink parts as finely as I could. (The white part seemed to be much easier to powder)
4. After about 30-40 minutes from placing the shot glass in the fridge, I removed it and put in the powder along with the coating of the pill.
5. The glass was then placed back into the fridge because I wanted the absolute minimum amount of fillers/binders in the final product, even though this caused the Methylphenidate to dissolve slower. I kept it in the fridge for about 20 minutes, stirring it for about 5 seconds every 5 minutes.
6. When taking the glass out, I noticed that there was still powder, in gooey clumps, along with coloring from the coating on the bottom of the glass. (I assume this stuff was just fillers/binders and that there was no Methylphenidate in those parts?) I then poured the solution through 2 brown coffee filters on top of a plastic cup.
7. It took about 10 minutes for all of the liquid to go into the cup. first 5 minutes were spent in the fridge and the last 5 were spent on a table at room temperature. I squeezed the coffee filter to make sure all the liquid was out before I disposed of it.

(This is where it got odd. I read that letting the solution evaporate naturally or with very little help (such as a fan or heat lamp) would be safer in terms of the release of toxic fumes.)

8. The solution sat on top of an audio receiver on a warm but not hot area for about 30 minutes. I then moved it into my room and aimed an electric ceramic heater at the cup about a foot away. After 45 minutes of this I noticed absolutely no change in the amount of ISO in the cup (no evaporation) although the room with the audio receiver smelled mildly of ISO. (does it even have a smell when evaporated?) About 2 hours later I noticed about 1/4 of the solution had evaporated. Seeing this I went to bed assuming it would all be gone in the morning. It was 6:30 AM when I went to sleep.
9. I woke up 8 hours later and to my dismay, saw that about 1/5 of the solution remained, with no noticeable powder at the bottom. There were 4 or 5 little dark green particles moving throughout the solution. I eventually evaporated all of it with help from the heater.
10. My final product was non existent. There was a small film at the bottom which I removed and dried out, but this film was still green after it had been fully dried so I disposed of it, not wanting to take any chances.

My main question is where did I go wrong.
Should I have used more pills? I read that a bump of the final product was almost too intense, as it was pure.
Should I use higher percentage, normal, clear ISO?

Sorry for such a long post. Wanted to make sure the entire process was covered so it could be corrected. My ideal final product is pure Methylphenidate that I can snort on the weekends since I don't wake up until 2 or 3 pm and taking a Concerta as is makes it impossible to go to sleep at a decent time on Sunday night. I don't want to just not take it on the weekends, because it greatly increases my focus and motivation to complete work.

BTW, I do have a prescription for this, if that even matters.

I have extracted MPH from Ritalin and Ritalin XR, but not from Concerta. But I have a way of making it somewhat more of a instant release. This is very basic and not very advanced stuff, and its not for snorting but for oral use.

I first decide what dosage I want then I just take the amount of pills I want and let them sit in a glass of warm water for about 24 hours. MPH has a VERY high solubility in water, so within 24 hours most the MPH has dissolved in the water and you can discard the remaining capsules. Then drink the solution.

Without having tested it, I would also guess that just evaporating the water would make quite a nice powder to snort. You could probably purify it further but I'm not sure it a good idea. I did this with Ritalin (the old talc containing ones) and got it to a state where it was in crystal form, and it was quite scary how easy it was to do to much. And let me tell you, its not a good experience. I've never been afraid of my life when I've done MPH (or any other substance for that matter) but that one time I really was. I could not count my pulse and I felt like shit.. Thank god for the short half life :)
After this I only did this high purification for other purposes (adding it to nasal sprays and such).

Also do remember when doing extraction you cant expect to get a 100% yield, I usually got 67% yield from Ritalin (talc), so when I did the extraction I always used 100 10mg tablets. And I got somewhere around 680-650 mg of crystalline substance.

I also get Ritalin prescribed. So I guess its somewhat legal :)

I could look more into the composition of the Concerta pills and give you some further advice, but it would be theoretical advice since I don't have access to those pills usually.
