Experience after MDMA use - worried!

Hi all. SWIM has been using drugs for around 3 years now (MDMA, Ketamine, Ecstasy and Mephedrone), on and off with a few long breaks of around 3 months and 8 months at a time. SWIM has recently had a few sessions on Ecstasy and Ketamine and SWIM's recent session was 4 days ago. SWIM had a bad experience 4 days ago where SWIM felt paranoid and experienced a sense of panic and discomfort. SWIM also felt a very bad comedown and feeling of weakness and dizziness. SWIM thinks that he also suffers from anxiety and stress (when not using drugs) which probably was the reason for this bad experience while on drugs.

Also it is a few days now since this experience and SWIM's jaw is still very tense and feels as if SWIM's jaw is tightening even though it is not, kinda like SWIM is still on drugs. Maybe SWIM has damaged the jaw area or maybe it's just sore? Because SWIM's jaw is sore he is feeling anxious that people know.

SWIM is also having slight heart pains which is making SWIM feel uncomfortable, maybe this is also related to anxiety? SWIM has had this before a few times. SWIM understands that this is definitely drug related and SWIM is definitely stopping drugs altogether now! Should SWIM seek medical advice and exercise and stay healthy?

Does anyone have any advice for SWIM?

My advice is to chill out for a 4 or 5 days, go to the gym and eat healthy, try and get lots of sleep, and if you don't have any improvement then go seek medical advice, I also advise you to stop using SWIM

Yeah, we don't SWIM here buddy. It does you no good.
Also, has your ecstasy been tested? Do you know for sure what you took was MDxx? Get lots of sleep, keep hydrated, eat healthy & try to relax a little. Don't let your thoughts & worries get the best of you. Try not to stress yourself out to much.

Hey TDawg92, welcome to bluelight. First of all, as AcidDrumAndBass already said it would be wise to start testing your product, you could have ingested anything really. Sure does sound like it wasn't MDMA, as that isn't known to produce feelings of paranoia, panic and discomfort but it's anyones guess really.

You are probably experiencing rather harsh after-effects but it won't be permanent and it probably feels worse than it is because of anxiety and worrying. You have not damaged anything, don't worry. Wait a while and live healthy, it will most likely start to pass in a short while. If it doesn't you could consult a doctor but they will probably tell you to wait it out as well. Main lesson to take away from this is to test your product with a testkit. Also checking out this sticky couldn't hurt

Thank you for your replies everyone. My jaw still feels very tight and sore on one side, like a throbbing sensation.

TMJ is an umbrella term for any pain or discomfort in the jaw muscles or general jaw area so yeah you could say it's TMJ. If you're worried it's permanent don't be, it isn't, you've probably just overexerted your jaw from bruxism. It will pass in time

Adding (untested) prefix

Agreed; the jaw pain is rather certainly a minor aggravation/soft tissue injury from clenching, not anything permanent. Many people clench their teeth in their sleep to some degree or other; stress and stimulant drugs (including MDMA or even caffeine) can worsen this. If it turns out to be a persistent problem, your dentist can help.

Chest pains are indeed a common symptom of anxiety (they may be caused by stress/anxiety, or they may even just be routine heartburn or such that you're just paying more attention to now since you're worried.)

I'm confident you'll recover from whatever lingering effects your drug use has produced, but as you've said you should take up a life of sobriety and clean living for the foreseeable future. Give yourself time to heal and re-center your life. If you feel any desire at all for a doctor's opinion/help, GET IT! Asking for help when you could use it is one of the smartest and strongest decisions a person can make.

Anxiety, stress & stimulants will make these symptoms worse, especially the jaw thing, that can become really painful if it continues. It doesn't sound like you've done any real permanent damage, it's mainly anxiety & stress combined with stimulants, that nerve in your jaw seems sensitive to it, it's likely not damaged at all, just a nervous reaction. Medical advice is probably not needed, maybe a doctor could help to reassure you, but I'm not sure they have any real treatment. Find a way to calm yourself, do some gentle regular exercise, breathing exercises/hypnosis/meditation, eat some fruit, sleep & eat properly, then it should go away quickly as soon as your stress/anxiety levels have dropped. If it gets really painful then a lidocaine or benzocaine gel could numb it, I keep some in for emergencies, but I haven't needed it since I've been able to control my stress.

It's more a symptom of stress & anxiety than drugs. It's no less harmful, but once you know what's causing it, you can find a cure.
