Exercise 4 Health, Mental Health, and Addiction vs. The Endorphin Factory

3 mile walk with puppy this morning before work.

I'm thinking that I'm going to try two rest days between workouts, at least for a while. If I discover that I feel less fatigued between workouts and gains don't suffer then I will probably stick with this schedule until I decide it is time to put splits into my weight program. As I am following a full body split atm I don't foresee any issue with a 2 day rest in between weight training days. Plus this will give me a chance to step up my cardio!

Full body workout after 2 days off (weight training) and I feel great this morning. Upped my squats by 5 pounds (baby steps, plus form has been my focus as I want my knees to age well with the rest of my body).

Doing an aerobic/cardio boot camp tomorrow morning. This will be my first aerobic class in well over a decade. Looking forward to a more social form of exercise -I think I'm ready for this ☺- as well as making cardio a bigger focus of my overall exercise program.

I guess I didn't fully understand what boot camp was. Definitely an aerobic aspect to it but a lot of strength training as well; throwing, swinging, pushing and pulling heavey things like weights, ropes, medicine balls. A really good workout and tbh the strength and endurance training feels more useful in real life than what I get out of my weight training program. I might just do this 2 to 3 days a week for a while with simple cardio days in between and one day of heavy weight training per week...Idk, gotta figure this out... One thing it definitely showed me is that I am not pushing myself nearly as hard as a could be when I work out on my own.

Still sore from Friday's boot camp. So looking forward to Monday morning's boot camp.

Had the puppy out at the dog park today, basically hiked around for 2 hours.

Wanted to start running outside today but twas raining. Then I got called into to work to cover for someone from night shift - place runs 24/7 and we work 12hour shifts. As I've been on day shift this is going to mess my schedule all up. I know I'll miss the boot camp class in the morning and this is very disappointing as I really got a lot out of the previous class.

back today after two days of slacking hehehe. Just an easy cardio since my upper back hurts. Gonna go to the doc tomorrow to see whats up then hot yoga on Wednesday. I havent gone for a long time since it's too expensive but I got my tax credit earlier so hurray!

I was only able to sleep 3hours today. I gotta learn too sleep during the day now that I'm working night shift. But I still managed to get a full body workout in, with dead lifts, military presses, lat pull downs, lateral side dumbbell raises and front dumbbell raises. Took the puppy on a 2.5 mile walk....beautiful day for it!

About to go work out for the first time in 5 days... I had a really intense weekend where I went hiking every day, and on Saturday I did the most intense hike of my life... not really a hike, me and my friend climbed up a mountain river. By the end it was climbing large boulders, balancing over logs over waterfalls, traversing slippery rocks, etc. Found an incredible waterfall about 2.5 hours away from the last place you could park and go down. Then we had to go back. I also tripped that day and didn't get much sleep so I was utterly exhausted for a couple of days afterwards, and yesterday work was too busy to work out. Glad to be going back. :) At least I got about the best workout possible on that hike, full body muscle work and intense and prolonged cardio (5 hours of it with 3 short breaks). Nothing for your calves and ankles and core like climbing up rivers across rocks. :)
