Excessive itching after 2 pharms....

I've been experiementing with methadone and painkillers.. and I've been itching excessively for the last 2 days... do you think its possible I'm allergic to codeine or the methadone?
I usually just puke on painkillers and no itching... but I tried a new painkiller (Oxycodone) and don't know if perhaps I'm allergic to an additive.. I have no whelps or hives... just itch like a bitch.
Any help would be appreciated.. I took 20mg of methadone last nite... thats when the itching started was after I took the second 10mg.. so perhaps I'm allergic?
 
I guess everyone is technically "allergic" to opiates, they cause reactions such as euphoria, itching, constipation etc...
Most opiates cause itching.
 
alrighty-- thanks-- i didnt know if it was allergies or just a general side effect. I like opiates.. just not their after-thoughts...
 
opiates release histamine. the same chemical that is released in the body when one is having an allergic reaction
it doesn't mean you're 'allergic' to a certain opiate. the same chemical is released in both instances causing similar (allergy-like) outcomes.
 
man i have never heard of itching being unbearable, as ive always thought the itching one gets from OPIATES is halfass enjoyable...it is not bothersome like the itching one gets from POION OAK..
 
is puking common for beginning opiate users.
I railed 2 oxycodones (5mg) and felt great for the high, until I came down... felt like shit.
Anyhelp overcoming that would be helpful as well. I'm fond of these feelings, just the downsides are nasty...
Thanks for mentioning methadone causes itching... i did 20mg and I was going insane for 2 days... my friend's roommie gave me anti-itch gel and that helped for a while... itchie boobs at a party looks funny when you keep scratching em :\
 
like i said before, antihistamines help with the itching.
as far as nasuea, i find laying down to be helpful, along with gravol or immodium...you could also try eating dry toast.

well, not really. opiates actually mimic natural pain killers in your body (endorphins), so it is fairly uncommon to be allergic to them. there are people who are allergic to codeine...when they take it they basically puff up and have a hard time breathing, but usually they arent allergic to other opiates.
most drug allergies consist of reactions such as: hives/rash, instant vommiting, inability to breathe (closing up of airway), and quite easily in some cases, death.

I was addicted to 40 milligrams pills of time release oxycontin for 2 months and for the last week of it i was taking 14 a day and that was a little too extreme for me and for the two weeks prior to that i would blow one and then five minutes later puke, and have my girlfriend scratch my back, she once forgot whwat she was doing and scratched my back til' it was bleeding but it felt good to me. My only piece of advice is to stick away from oxy's they are bad and the withdrawl sucks too.
 
20mgs of methadone has had me itching as unbearably as having poison ivy. Although it didn't produce those nasty blisters, I was itching to the point that I was bleeding on my arms, neck and legs.
 
Actually, it has not been conclusively proven that opiates release histamines, although that is one of the strongest theories at the moment.
Regardless, even fairly intense itching is not uncommon with opiate use. Everyone experiences the itch to some degree; sounds like you are just particularily sensitive to it.
And yes, puking/nausea are also VERY common, almost universal side effects, especially for newbies. Prescription anti-nausea medication works well, and some have had luck with dramamine (OTC).
